U17 World Cup Qualifying in Victoria

Canada won their first game against Cuba 3-1. Two goals by Cam Wilson of Delta and the Vancouver Firemen. Derrick Rios of Ontario had the other.


The other game had Costa Rica beating Mexico in a bit of a shocker 4-1.

Next game is on Friday at 7pm.

Goal scorer --- Cam Wilson on a good individual effort.

They play Sunday at 2:00 against Mexico for a berth in the World Cup in Finland. This would be a huge step for Canadian Soccer, having the U20's and the U17's both qualify. Hard to argue that the Canadian Soccer brass arent starting to do some things right.

Too bad the Imperial final is sunday as a large fireman contingent would have liked to go see our youngsters playing for their country. Ohh well i guess thats the VMSL?

another sad day in Canadian Soccer

Canada 0-2 Mexico

Some key injuries and illness lead a depleted Canadian team into the final game where a one nil loss put them into a playoff for the 3rd and final spot from Concacaf and a tie won the group for the team and would have sent them to Finland in August. Tough loss to the boys.

We had Vincent Stewart on that team as well as another kid. Can't remember his name to save my life right now. I'll see if I can get him to post. Vinny not the other guy.

BC's Canada connection

I believe there was 6 or 7 players from BC on the team,

Tyler Rosenlund --- Poco (FIREMEN!!!!!)
Cam Wilson --- Delta (FIREMEN!!!!!)
Miles Davis --- Delta
Vince Stewart --- Delta
Brad Peetoom --- Abbotsford
Alex Elliott --- Vancouver

2 play for the firemen and there will be more from the national pool who were dropped prior to the tournament. Cam has a legion of followers. Thats scary but he'll love the pic and he never wants to disapoint his fans so convincing him to talk shouldnt be all that hard!
