From my POV Santos has the potential to finish mid table this year. It’s just a build up this year pretty much with all the drama that happened last year. I give credit to young santos guys. Fighting hard against a well known team. Don’t be gross . If you don’t like the coach at least give credit to the youth players paying for the club.

Paying the club that pays for the coach?

"...You have always had it out for this club since your days of trolling the Wolves.."

Of course, we always had it with an amateur soccer club that it is the ultimate expression of corporate fascism and becomes a vehicle for corporate welfarism. You have sold out the spirit of a beautiful sport to generate profit and advertising to a corporation.
Worst of all, you have been duped to believe that you are promoting "the development of the game" when in reality you are simple being used as and advertising pawn and an agent that facilitates economic exploitation for a corporation.

Having this entrenched soccer monopolistic institutions that pretend the advancement of soccer, when in reality they are only serving the interest of the affluent classes and their children, is one of the root causes for the underdevelopment of Canadian soccer.

How is it possible that Haiti, the poorest nation in the Western hemisphere with an average salary of $1.75, beats and eliminates an affluent nation like Canada?
Well the answer starts in clubs like "Coquitlam Metro Ford".

I know that you do not see it. Having a to completely control soccer development in a vast area ultimate stifles the competition needed for soccer development. It allows the creation of ideological soccer fantasies like the ones that you are articulating that reproduce themselves until they confronted with the harsh reality of embarrassing eliminations in the world stage.

The fouls and yellow cards that you describe are not fouls or yellow cards in the rest of the world.

The assessment that having possession, when given, should translate into a result or constitutes soccer is a poor understanding of the game. The idea that defending is not good soccer, nor essential, nor should be trained or taught, is what costs the elimination to Haiti.

Do you remember how Canada was leading 2-0 and everybody continue attacking without reading the game?
Do you think that result does not have anything to do to what is being taught in Coquitlam Metro Ford academies?

Listen, the 0-0 is the true result of the game between Santos and Metro Ford Luipi.

We deliberately opened up the game in the second half for teaching purposes for our young players. At this moment, the results do not matter to us, as we are thinking of a long term build up strategy.

Guys, really when you are going to wake up from the dream and realize that we are so far from even be able to compete in Concacaf. That our local and parochial views on the game are a distortion.

It is pure fantasy. What you consider "good" is not good, and what you consider "not good" is actually good. It is just that you do not see it. This is why you get eliminated by very poor nations, but you look for other excuses.

This is Coquitlam Metro Ford players pretending that they know how to play soccer (by world standards)

We can't believe anything you say, you said 3 posts ago it was your last post. And just wondering why every time you get humped it is the officials fault?? Every think it is your crap team?? Just a thought

An interesting, if predictable, Week 1 showed that Division 1 this season is likely to be wide open with four of the six matches seeing blown leads that altered the end results. Pre-season favourites Burnaby Metro did indeed lose top scorer Farivar Torabi to Rino's Premier and they looked to miss him dearly in their 2-2 draw with NorVan. That draw was also the only blemish on my record last week and prevented me from a perfect start. Alas. I suppose this week is another chance...

Completely Baseless Predictions - Week 2

Richmond Hibernian v Club Inter EDC B
The UBC take over is slowly taking full form as "Richmond" look to have secured fields on campus for their first two home matches at least. To no one's surprise they got off to a flyer in Week 1, beating promoted Strikers 5-1. That said, the win was not without its hiccups as UBC were twice behind. No matter though as they ended up comfortable winners. Inter's first game also finish 5-2, except, unlike "Richmond," they were on the wrong side of that score line. Similar to Striker, Inter also had an early lead and, in fact, were up by two until pairs of goals for GN either side of half time meant they were behind 4-2 in a cumulative six minutes. Giving up goals in bunches is hardly a formula for success, especially against a UBC side that has plenty of offensive weapons. I can't see this one being close.

GN Sporting v Rino's Fury
For a variety of reason's Rino's seem to be limping into this season. They needed a goal deep into stoppage time to get a share of the points against newly promoted Sierra last week, though multiple reports suggest that the Sierra goalkeeper played a large role in the equalizer taking that long to come. Regardless, with the squad at less than full strength it would seem a tough week to have to make the trek out to North Delta to pay GN. This is especially true given that the Surrey/Delta boys looked sharp in a 5-2 win over Inter in Week 1. It is looking as though GN mean to go on again this season as a top half team, potentially even challenging for promotion, after years of being perennial relegation candidates. Another strong performance this week would go a long way towards prove that hypothesis. Rino's at full strength would certainly be a match for anyone, but in their current form and away from home I think GN have to be slight favourites here.

Westside FC A v Westside Sierra
I guess this is the MOTW, although I am not sure how much of a "derby" it is. Both teams are Westside in name but my understanding is that Sierra are very much still based in Burnaby. Still, both sides had good opening weeks and should be in good form coming into this one. Sierra were denied a debut win by Rino's late, late equalizer but will still surely be bullish about their chances at this level. What better team to prove they belong against that club mates Westside? The Westside boys proper got off to a flyer against Greencaps and put all three points in the bank on Week 1. Having seen the field, the former Premier side must surely be thinking that they have a look to go back up this season. It will not be a cake walk by any stretch though and dropping points to a newly promoted side is really not an option if they want to be taken seriously. Given Sierra should have a point to prove as well, perhaps we do get a bit of a derby atmosphere in this one. I'll tip Westside A given they looked strong in their opener, but it would not be a total shock if Sierra can get something from this one.

Atletico Santos v Burnaby Metro Athletic
It has all gone a bit pear shaped for Burnaby right off the hop. Losing top scorer Farivar Torabi to Premier was always going to hurt, but they looked as though they were set to persevere when they ran out to a 2-0 lead in their opener against NorVan. However, their shortcomings were ultimately brought to bear as they ended up having to settle for a share of the points. While Burnaby started off rather tepidly last season as well before ending up in the thick of the promotion race, their mid-week SOS posting on the VMSL notice board does little to quell fears. Who knows though, perhaps their smoke signal will actually attract the piece or pieces they need to restore them as favourites. In the meantime they will grapple with the challenges that Santos present, though some might argue that those are few in number. Santos had their usual bluster to go along with what was by all accounts a decent performance in Week 1, however, they had little tangible to show for their efforts in a 3-1 loss to Lupi. Picking up a result against an evidently vulnerable Burnaby Metro side would definitely make a statement to the league (and knowing Santos, likely a rather boisterous one at that...), but it remains to be seen if they have those kinds of tools in their locker. Until we see something tangible, they must remain as underdogs.

NorVan Storm v Vancouver Strikers
Both teams in this match will likely feel that they can get something from this game. Strikers got off to a dream start before the challenges of playing at the Div. 1 level were laid bare to them in a 5-2 loss to "Richmond." NorVan, meanwhile, fought back from two down to salvage a point against Burnaby. Surely each of these sides will feel that a strong performance this week should glean them further points. Perhaps the biggest concern looking at Strikers is the fact that it is tough to know if they have got the stamina for 90 minutes at this level, as they definitely appeared to fade against UBC. NorVan, on the other hand, proved that they do not know how to quit in their comeback and, with them being at home, they are probably slight favourites. Although, I do not think a draw is out of the question.

Vancouver Greencaps v Coquitlam Metro Ford Lupi
It did not look like Greencaps were ready to play in Week 1 as they were behind by three goals in the blink of an eye against Westside in their opener. It would appear that they are not ready to play this weekend either as they have moved their game to Wednesday night. Lupi were 3-1 winners over Santos in their first match of the campaign, though maybe that is not a ringing endorsement given the reputation that the former Campo side carried into the season. Trekking out to Vancouver mid-week might not allow the Tri-Cities boys to field their best squad, so Greencaps will be hoping that gives them the edge. Mid-week fixtures were good to the green-men last season as they romped to a debut win against Romania on a Wednesday if memory serves. Overall, however, mid-week fixtures tend to produce a higher number of draws than weekend fixtures and with neither side looking like world-beaters at the moment, I think there is good odd on them splitting the points.

(yes this should be our signature....we have lost count of how many times we have gone to retirement, just to receive a call to go back...but we thought that the pundits and powers to be of the TTP....knew of the news by now.... a major unexpected change...that gave itself by chance....

....the young lads are learning quite fast and in due time they will start to pick up the points...no pressure or expectations for now...
