Any game report from rinos vs ccb?

That's a massive result for ccb in relegation battle.

The bottom 5 teams all play eachother, it's going to be a good finish to the season. Every game is going to be important no matter where you are in the standings whether it's a relegation battle or provincial spot battle.

Good luck to all.

Hey guys

Been out of the country for a couple of months for work finally went to go watch a game.

Croatia vs Pegasus it was a very good game from both teams. Croatia played very good for the firs 45 minutes all over Pegasus went up 2-0 lots of counterattack’s and lots of opportunities for Croatia to get more goals Pegasus scored with about 30 seconds left in first half to make it 2-1 Croatia.

Second half was mostly Pegasus as they went up 3-2 with a couple Croatia mistakes. The game got a little bit heated in the 75min area where a Croatia player was taken down and then kicked in the face. A little brall happened mostly pushing a Croatia play got punched as well he didn’t like that lost his cool a bit. Croatia play received a yellow card and Pegasus player was sent of with a red in where he will be looking at 3-5 games as it was kick to the head done with intent from what it looked like from the crowed and the red saw it clearly.

Last 10 minutes it was all Croatia with allot of chance with about 5 left they made it 3-3.

Both team diserved the point but I’m sure both where hoping for more.

Any report on the metro ford vs rovers game that seems pretty interesting as metro ford is no where good as they where the last couple of years

Caught the second half of the big relegation fight between Chile and Campo this weekend. Chile were up 1-0 at the break and set up in the second half to defend and then counter attack. Not sure if this is how they played the whole game or only after they got the lead. While it certainly gave Campo the impetus to attack, the strategy proved very effective for EDC. Campo had a chance to level the match straight away after half time were the crossed a free kick into the six yard box. The ball bounced and seemed destined to be turned in, but it almost appeared as if all the Campo players were leaving it for a teammate to finish off and then no one did. That was really it for Grade A chances for the home side chasing the game. They had plenty of the ball and lots of opportunity but mostly settled for tepid long shots or created scrambles that Chile always found a way to get clear. I think they had the keeper at full stretch with one long effort, but even that was a comfortable save. Meanwhile EDC really should have been out of sight, but they simply could not kill the game off. The Campo keeper made a spectacular save when a free kick was headed on target from six yard out or so and then answered the call again stopping a full breakaway. Chile looked threatening on almost every counter, but it took them until the game's very last action to make the points safe and Reuben blew for full time as soon as the 2-0 goal hit the back of the net.

Next I was off to Memorial for Richmond's visit to Inter. The home side made the early running, but Richmond struck first against the run of play to take an invaluable 1-0 lead in their relegation fight around the 20 minute mark. After that it was one way traffic with Inter attacking in waves and Richmond clinging on at times. The corner count rose and Richmond would go decent stretches of time where you couldn't remember when they last had the ball across midfield. Still they bent, but did no break though Inter should have been level before half time, but produced one of the worst misses I have even witnessed. The ball was cut back across the face of goal and the Inter attacker was unmarked running onto it with an entirely unguarded net at his mercy, but he got the contact all wrong and wound up hit the Richmond goalkeeper in the back as he lay prone on the ground having tried to stop the cross. I think the keeper was as startled as anyone and it almost looked as though he could have ended up bundling the ball into his own goal before he recovered to smother it.

The second half had the fire works. Richmond began with slightly more ambition but soon things fell back into the same pattern of them trying to soak up the Inter pressure. Many times this lead to Richmond having all eleven players as deep as their own penalty area, nevermind inside their own half! The attacks continued to come and by the time Inter had a goal chalked off of offside, you felt the equalizer was coming. That being said, as Inter opened up to chase the game more and more Richmonds occasion counters began to look increasingly dangerous. Often times Inter were caught scrambling back to negate odd numbered rushes and the Inter keeper was called upon to make a good diving save in order to keep it at 1-0. With 15 minutes to go Inter made a pair of subs and went to three at the back. The relentless attacks continued and an ambitious decision by one of the back three to overlap created the space to whip in a cross. Richmond had a chance to deal with it at the front post but failed to get it clear and eventually the ball worked its way across the goal where Milad Rahmati was on hand to turn it in for his second goal in as many games. Inter stuck with the three at the back look as they searched for a winner and based on the way the pitch had been tilted you felt that if either team was going to find another goal it would be the home side. Instead though, with five minutes to play Richmond made one of their counters count when their winger was 1v1 and created the half of a yard he needed to slam the ball into the far side netting. Richmond were ecstatic, obviously, and their reaction brought a reaction out of the Inter bench. It was handbags at twenty paces as the two sidelines exchanged words. The referee took a minute to make sure things did not spill over onto the field but as the clock rolled onto 90 minutes the frustration from Inter boiled over and a shocking two-footed challenge at midfield was punished with a straight red card. The Richmond sideline erupted again and, of course, Inter got their backs up straight away. The "Italians" love this sort of thing (just see how their Provincial Cup final ended...) and it gets them beyond fired up. Richmond might well have been better off toning things down because sure enough, as though seemingly with a point to prove and the opportunity for a massive fcuk you, Inter marched down the field with there 10 men and leveled things up. It was a cross to the back post and I believe Alex Marello who rose to nod it back across, off the post and in to level it at 2-2. Inter were screaming for more injury time to try and find a winning goal, but the referee brought a halt to proceedings in short order.

Certainly a massive missed opportunity for Richmond, having twice had the lead, including with just minutes to play. Instead of being on 18 points and all but safe, they instead move to 16, level with Campo. Chile's win mean it is now Westside who sit in the relegation zone along with CCB who have pulled with three points of safety themselves. Campo play none of the other bottom teams over the final four games but CCB and Chile both play Richmond and Westside. Literally any combination of these teams could yet go down!

It seems the picture changes entirely after every weekend in the VMSL's top flight. Rovers have been reeled in at the top, though Peg failed to really press their advantage this past weekend. Rino's looked like shoe-in for Provincials, but have now be caught by West Van while Inter and Coquitlam are all within striking distance. At the bottom the picture has changed once again, but seemingly no one can pull away and ensure their safety. Clearly this is going to go to the wire, but let's see if anyone seizes their opportunity this weekend.

Completely Baseless Predictions for Week 19:

Croatia v Campo
Campo had a glorious chance to all but book their spot in the league for next season with a win over Chile, but their tepid effort resulted in a 2-0 loss and they remain very much in the relegation mix. Perhaps more concerning is the fact that they have no more relegation rivals left on their schedule and will finish the year against teams all duking it out for Provincial Cup places. It is certainly going to be a tough task for Campo to pick up any further points, though they will likely need to find them somewhere as the 16 they currently have looks tenuous at best. Their difficult run in to the finish begins with and away date at Croatia. The Croatians are coming off a heavyweight 3-3 draw with Pegasus last weekend in which they surrendered a two goal lead before battling back in a chippy affair to earn a point. They need to keep winning to ensure that they are a guaranteed entry into the Provincial Cup, rather than waiting for the Imperial Cup to determine their fate and will fancy this match up with Campo as a solid opportunity to come away with all the spoils. Croatia have the league's top scorer, David Malamura, and boast the leagues third most potent offence which is not a good match up for Campo who have allowed the second most goals of an team in the division and have not kept a clean sheet this season. The new boys will need to find another gear and some real relegation desperation if they are going to come away with anything here; odds definitely favour Croatia.

Pegasus v Inter
MOTW here as both teams dropped two big points last week. Peg's ill-discipline led to Croatia finding a late equalizer and means they fail to fully capitalize on Rover's loss at the top in the title race. Had they held on and then won next week while Rovers are idle due to Imperial Cup conflicts, Peg would have gone in to their titanic title clash with Rovers level on points and games played. As it stands, that game will remain a "must win" for Pegasus if they want to take control of the title race, right at the death. Inter, meanwhile, were the only team in the Provincial Cup hunt to drop points last week with both Metro Ford and West Van winning. Fortunately, the separation remains minimal among the teams vying for the top six and Rino's shock loss to CCB has now dragged them into the quagmire as well. That being said, the Inter were lucky to get anything out of their clash with Richmond needing an injury time equalizer to rescue a point and being down to 10 men. Somebody will finish seventh and miss out on provincial entirely (barring their own run to the Imperial Cup final) and with time ticking down on the season this is getting down to "big game" territory, which usually brings the best out of Inter. This year, however, the "Italians" have struggled for offense and, unless they can keep this one low scoring, I have to think Peg are favourites here. The Surrey boys can be wildly unpredictable though and have three names on the hot sheet suspended for this week. This one is a complete toss up, but I will tip the home side because, if they are going to steal the title from Rovers they can have no further slip ups.

Richmond v West Van
Richmond were gutted when they conceded a last second equalizer to 10 man Inter last time out. The question now is, will that missed opportunity damage their spirits or will they be able to kick on and build on a performance that got them so close to an invaluable result? There's no question that Inter outplayed them statistically last weekend, but Hibs had the tactics spot on and made their counterpunches count for maximum damage. This still wasn't enough however and now they have to go back to square one and try again against a West Van team on a roll. The North Shore boys are unbeaten since November and over stretch they have knocked off first place Rovers and, more importantly, revived an offense that spent the majority of the first part of the season rather dormant. Heading into December, as the table was beginning to take shape, West Van looked like they might be the team most likely to finish seventh and miss out on qualifying for the Provincial Cup via the league. This was on the heels dropping point for the second time to league new boys Campo Atletico, which had been preceded by a run of three straight 1-0 defeats. The next week, though, they bounced back by beating Rovers and have now climbed into the top four which would be direct qualification for the Provincials. They are hot and I will back them to keep it going against Richmond.

Coquitlam Metro Ford v CCB LFC
In what might be the most intriguing match up this week, Coquitlam host last placed CCB. The Tri-Cities boys had their seven game winning streak snapped two weeks ago when they lost to West Van, but if anyone thought the wind had been taken out of their sails they were proven incorrect as Metro Ford bounced back immediately slapping down their would-be successors as Champions, Rovers, by a humbling 4-1 score line. After their abysmal start Coquitlam need to keep picking up points to ensure they qualify for Provincials and the season is not a complete disaster. That being said, they do have the upper hand having played only 16 games so far this season, so the points are still there to be won for them and they very much control their own destiny. Two weeks ago a match up against last place CCB would have surely been a slam dunk for the red hot Coquitlam boys, but CCB have now won two on the bounce, including a surprise 2-1 win over Rino's last weekend, and have pulled themselves up off the matt. They still sit bottom of the league but now have a genuine shot at survival especially given that they have matches coming up against fellow relegation strugglers Westside and Richmond. Further bonus points would only aid the CCB push and another win this weekend might even fault them out of the drop zone. Time to find out if that was a fluke or if CCB are odds on to pull off the great escape. Last time these two met CCB earned a rare point and Metro Ford hit rock bottom when they failed to beat a team well of the pace. Coquitlam are 8-0-1 since that draw and have to be favourites again here, especially at home given that CCB have only one win away from Newton and that came two weeks ago in a must win game with Chile. Still, this one should be a cracker with both sides in need of the points and playing well.

Rino's Tigers v EDC Burnaby
Rino's shock loss to CCB means that they have gone from being an outside title favourite to now needing to claw their way into the Provincial Cup. The upstarts from Division 1 have yet to win in 2018 and have fallen to fifth with both Inter and Coquitlam nipping at their heels and holding games in hand. If those two teams get three points each from their extra games they would both leapfrog Rino's, dropping them to seventh and outside of the Provincial Cup places. Clearly Tigers need to find away to recapture the magic that they had when they were seemingly dispatching teams from the top half of the table with ease before the holidays. It won't be any easier this week when they host another relegation threatened side in EDC. The Chileans lost a massive game against CCB two weeks ago, but responded with a huge win over Campo and have vaulted out of the relegation places for the first time since October. With relegation six-pointers still on the horizon against Westside and Richmond, Chile are far from out of the woods just yet, but are likely breathing a little easier. Rino's should be surly though and I fancy them to bounce back here.

Westside v Rovers Tigers
Rovers once more dodged a bullet with Pegasus failing to take advantage of them losing once again this year. Their 4-1 loss to Coquitlam means the title is very much up for grabs between them and their local rivals at Newton, but, barring something extraordinary, Rovers will hold the balance of power when these two meet in two weeks time with a draw likely being enough to see Tigers carried to the title. This week they get a perfect opportunity to vent their frustration against Westside who have fallen completely off a cliff this season. It's all gone wrong for the Vancouver boys and after slumping their eighth loss in a row they were finally dropped into the relegation zone. Remarkably, despite their incredible poor form, they will likely still have a chance to survive as they play their two closest relegation rivals EDC and CCB in their next two league games. As for this week, there's not much to analyze in this one; Rover's to be comfortable.

Fantastic battle at the bottom with 3 games to go:

I predict Campo doesn't survive the drop and Richmond / Westside duel it out in a relegation playoff.

The permutations are insane for the relegation teams. CCB look like they will escape but anything could happen with the other teams. Chile can finish off Westside if they win in two weeks time but other than that it's all up in the air. If Westside were to somehow pull off a win then things really go out the window. It could end up being a 3 or 4 team round robin playoff which would be nuts. Not sure how the teams would respond to that but it would be entertaining for the neutrals I'm sure.

Imperial Cup has most fixtures PPD this week, but West Van v Peg will go ahead and this is must win stuff for the Surrey boys. They have to win this one, then beat Rovers next week, then finish perfect while hoping for a Rovers slip up. Odds are definitely stacked against them, but there is still hope. Less than maximum points this week however and you can just about hit the lights on the title race.

Inter also play this week in what amounts to their game in hand on their Provincial Cup chasing rivals. A win would have them very much in the conversation for a top four spot and a guaranteed Provincial berth. The team with the most to lose from an Inter win looks to be Rino's who would have lost touch with top five and would be almost left on their own to duke it out with Coquitlam Metro Ford in the race for sixth with the Tri-Cities boys hold a pair of games in hand.

Peg dropped another one, 2-1 to WV

Sapperton requires a single point from their remaining 3 games to secure a share of the title at a minimum. 2 points out of nine and they are league champs.

Campo and Richmond to drop
Campo has the most difficult schedule out of the bottom 5 teams, they have to play Inter, Metro Ford and Rinos. Westside hasn't won a game since November, unless something dramatically changed I cant see them winning another game. My picks to go down are Campo and Westside.

@Canucks4Ever what happened to Westside this year? They were good last year and this year they are a completely different team.

I wonder who has a larger payroll CCB or Rinos Tigers? :gurps::gurps:;);)

Ya great question re Westside. Perhaps they overacheived last season. I know their all star centre back and arguably best player did his knee when Basso went over on him 3 minutes into the season out at Newton on opening day. That's definitely been a big hole for them and it shows in their defensive record. I also had one of their staff point out to me that, of these 9 games in a row that they've lost, they have had the lead in 6 of them. Again it points to their defensive record and missing their top defender as well as I'm sure some bounces and calls going against them. I remember watching them play Campo at Point Grey and Westside were dominant and looking very much the better team. All of a sudden Campo had it tied out of nothing and then won it on a once in a lifetime goal. I gather that seems to have been their season in a microcosm.

As torrid as a run as they have been on, if they beat Chile it's all to play for. I was at BLW last night for the Imperial Cup games (reports to follow in the Imperial Cup thread when I get time) and Chile looked very poor. Statistically, Westside's current losing streak is obviously at the forefront, but Richmond suffered a stretch in the middle of the season where they too lost 9 games in a row. CCB of course look unstoppable at the moment, but they really have not left themselves any room for error. One Westside/Campo style game where everything falls apart could be all it takes to doom them. Then, as you mentioned, their is Campo who have the most difficult schedule left. Trying to predict this is next to impossible as it stands, especially because there are so many six-pointers still to be played. We'll know more after this next week when there is a full slate of fixtures to be played ut then add in the fact that there could end up being a multiple teams playoff and this is verging on insanity!

Inter with a massive 4-3 result over the Croats.

With their game in hand, could jump into the top 3 and secure a BC berth.

With relegation and Provincial Cup spots still to be decided, as well as the League Title to be awarded, there are no meaningless games at all on what was supposed to be the second to last game for all sides. Instead only Croatia and West Van will have a lone game remaining after this weekend, with the rest all having make ups due to the Imperial Cup or other postponements. The top and bottom could just about be decided after this week, so let's see where it takes us.

Completely Baseless Predications for Week 21:

Coquitlam Metro Ford v Rino's Tigers
This game is the MOTW as these two are duking it out for the final Provincial Cup berth. Rino's could become just the second team that Metro Ford take six points off of this season as they beat them in the reverse fixture 3-1 back in November. That was right at the start of Coquitlam's renaissance and was the second of their seven game winning streak that has vaulted them back to respectability and given them a shot at qualifying for the Provincial Cup. Coquitlam are currently in seventh, on the outside looking in of the Provincial picture, but are only three points behind Rino's and hold two games in hand. Rino's have cooled after looking like the next big thing leading up to the Winter Break. They are without a win this calendar year and, after becoming the first victims of a revitalized CCB, they also donated points to relegation threatened Chile as well after drawing 1-1 in their last outing two weeks ago. Rino's were idle last week as they were not involved in the Imperial Cup's preliminary round because, when the draw was made, they sat in fourth place and that earned them a bye. Hopefully they have used their spare time to get ready for Metro Ford as a loss to the Tri-Cities boys would definitely put a dent in their hopes of qualifying for a first ever Provincial A Cup since their split from Westside. Coquitlam have their tales up at the moment and are feeling good after clattering the goal in during a 6-1 romp over Division 1 NorVan Lions in the Imperial Cup. Both of these teams will fancy their chances of a deep cup run that just might earn them a Provincial Cup spot via that route, but they certainly won't want to be relying on it. They will want the security of a top six finish and that makes this almost a must win for Rino's. Tigers will need to play with some desperation and are fully capable of bagging three valuable points here, but I like Coquitlam at home in this one.

Croatia v West Van
A top four finish means a spot in the Provincial Cup, regardless of the outcome of the Imperial Cup. These two teams are level on 37 points and currently occupy third an fourth in the table. However, hard charging Inter, the defending Provincial Cup Champions, are just two points back with a game in hand. Plenty to play for then in this one. Both teams had byes in the Imperial Cup last week but were involved in league play, meaning they will each only have a lone game left to play after this fixture. Croatia blew a late lead in spectacular fashion to lose 4-3 to the aforementioned Inter, while West Van effectively ended whatever faint title hopes Pegasus may still have held when they knocked them off 2-1 at home. In fact the North Shore boys have won four straight now and have not lost since the middle of November. The former Trollers have climbed from Provincial Cup maybes to legitimate contenders and have clearly saved their best for the business end of the season. Croatia's defense has gone walkabout over the last few games, giving up four, three and three goals respectively over their last three outings. Their offence, led by league goal scoring leader David Malamura, has picked up the slack and they have still managed a win and a draw over that span, but bleeding goals in this manner is not a recipe for long term success. West Van are red hot and if Croatia give up some early goals I seriously doubt their ability to pull this one out of the fire, so I'll back the Ambleside gang to take the points home with them.

Pegasus v Rovers Tigers
Well this was supposed to be not only the Match of the Week, but, indeed, the match of the season. Things were looking good for Peg to shock the league and swipe the title out from under their Newton neighbour's nose. Peg had a chance to move within three points of Rovers while holding a game in hand that would bring them level with this titanic clash still to come. Having already beat Rovers to hand them their first loss of the season back in November, thing were finely poised for Peg's veterans to pull off the smash and grab. Instead they could only pick up a lone point against Croatia when Rovers stumbled against Coquitlam. Then they compounded that missed opportunity with a loss the following week to Inter. Finally, last week, with Rovers sitting idle, Peg all but handed them the title when they lost to West Van. Now even a draw will be enough for Rovers to be confirmed as VMSL Champions. While I am sure Peg would like nothing better than to prevent their Surrey cousins from taking a victory lap at Newton after the match, it would surely just be a minor delay in starting the party as one win from their final two games would be enough to get the job done. Add in the fact that Peg have three names on the naughty list and ineligible this week and the signs aren't great. Plenty of pride on the line tonight, no doubt, but I will take Rovers to finish the job at the first time of asking.

Richmond v CCB
The first of two massive relegation battles this weekend has Richmond hosting the reinvigorated CCB out at Minoru. A win for CCB would move them out of the relegation zone with and put them into pole position for survival. Their turn around has been stunning. After nose diving through the second half of last season and then sleepwalking through the first half of this one, the Surrey boys have flipped a switch and suddenly looked like the top caliber team that their roster resembles. They are talking on all comers and have dispensed with Chile, Rino's and Coquitlam over their last three league games and turned on the style last week in a 6-3 win over Division 1 Romania. Surely they fear no one at this point, however, they have left themselves little room for error and one misstep could doom their comeback efforts. Richmond also got a win in their cup tie last week, edging fellow strugglers Campo 3-2. If they could exchange that win for three points I am sure they gladly would, but it's always good to get back that winning feeling. The boys from below sea level have only one point from their last four league games and will be hoping Rovers lock up their crown tonight as that is who is next up for Richmond after a date with Croatia in the cup next week. They still have another six pointer against Chile in their final league bout and they will hope to be safe in advance of that. It is still tough to believe the stunning one-eighty that CCB have pulled, but in their current form their is simply no betting against them.

Westside v EDC Burnaby
It is just about must win time for Westside. Sitting in last place and having lost 10 straight including an embarrassing Imperial Cup exit at the hands of rival Rino's Division 1 side, it's all gone pear shaped this season. Chile too lost to lower league opposition when they were bested by Columbus 3-1 last weekend. It is very conceivable that both these teams could end up being relegated together. Westside need to win here to have any real hope of survival, though a loss won't mathematically finish them off. A draw would definitely benefit Chile more, but it is pretty tough to pick either side as a winner here. Westside won their previous meeting back in November and that was the last time they earned any points in the league. Chile have hardly been inspiring over that same stretch, but have mixed in massive, surprise results over Inter and Peg while earning draws against West Van and Rino's. I wouldn't expect a beautiful display of football in this one, but surely there will be some desperation on display. Based on their respective second halves of the season, the signs point to Chile being favourites.

Inter v Campo
Inter are back. The defending Provincial Champions are up to their usual tricks with late game heroics and taking on all challengers with a massive chip on their should for some reason. Milad and Milad are leading the line and their goals are setting the tone for the rest of the team, Unbeaten in four and having picked up ten points from those games, the "Italians" look a top four threat and hold a game in hand over their nearest rivals. Campo are stuck on 16 points and have been since they had just enough to get past Westside back in December. With the teams around them playing six-pointers over the final weeks of the season, it means that the absolute best 16 points will earn the newly promoted boys is a chance at a relegation playoff. They were close in their last league outing against Croatia and are capable of putting a shock into any team in the division, but it certainly looks an uphill battle against teams fighting to get into the Provincial Cup. Evan just a single point might be enough for Camp, however, it is tough to see Inter giving away anything in their current form.
