Campo and Richmond are on pace to beat Friends united record for most goals allowed. If they keep up this pace Richmond will have 88 goals against and Campo an astonishing 115 goals against, this must be a record. Previous most goals allowed in premier since they went to 12 teams was none other than Campo last season they allowed 69 goals against.

Campo demise is due to losing soccer coach
Who took a very average group of players
And taught them how to play good football

After a draw at the top there is now only six points separating first from eighth, which would mean that just a minor slump could see a team plummet from title contender to being on the outside of the Provincial Cup race looking in. Indeed, perhaps quietly the biggest benefactor from the draw at the top was defending champions Rovers who now can pull level with first placed Rino's once more by winning their games in hand. This log-jammed table is a refreshing change from the run away contest of the previous season and means that, once again this week, the points up for grabs are oh so crucial. Adding to the fun is the fact that the college season has now finished so many Premier sides will likely be bolstering their rosters. As the saying goes, the VMSL season really starts at the end of November.

Completely Baseless Predictions - Week 11

Croatia v Rino's Tigers
Despite the current form of these two sides, this is still the MOTW. Three losses in a row, the latest a 1-0 to resurgent CCB, would seem to have brought Croatia to a tipping point. Fortunately, neither West Van and Rino's were unable to pull away after their 1-1 draw. While that means Croatia have managed to remain within touching distance at the top of the league, the overarching effect of everyone's poor form has been to contract the top half of the table overall. All three of Croatia's recent losses have been by just a single goal, so they are hardly well off the pace. That being said, they will need to start finding ways to get back to winding up on the right side of those score lines sooner rather than later if they are to continue with their title push. Once of their main concerns has to be the lack of chemistry between their two golden boot winners. Defending VMSL scoring title holder David Malamura has just one goal since the first week of October, though he did serve a two game ban for a red card. Regardless, his four goals on the season as we approach the halfway point of the campaign do not even have him in the same stratosphere as those vying for this season's golden boot. Meanwhile, last season's FVSL scoring leader, Daniel Davidson, who was poached from Abbotsford in the off season, has just a single VMSL goal to his name this year. If Croatia are to right the ship, they will likely need those two to find their shooting boots right smartly. Current VMSL scoring leader, Declan Rodriguez, has seen both his and his Rino's side's rampant goal scoring prowess dry up of late. Just two goals in their last three games has seen the Tiger's assault up the table slow to a crawl. Both of these sides would seem poised then for a breakout game, so perhaps we are in for a thriller in this one. Neither side are at their best at the moment, but with the college season having ended, I think it is likely that Rino's are poised to receive some reinforcements. Tough to envision Croatia losing four straight, so I expect them to be motivated; but it is equally difficult to imagine Rino's going three weeks without a win especially if they are fielding their best possible roster. I'll tip the Vancouver side here.

Rovers Tigers v Campo Atletico
Reports of full blown disintegration in the Campo camp, if there was anything left to disintegrate. Rumours that the squad is no longer training would seem to indicate that it will be a feat if they manage to last the whole season without folding. A woeful performance against a less than stellar Guildford side in a 5-1 loss last week all but confirmed Campo's fate. Rovers have found it tough sledding since their return as National Champions, but pair of narrow wins, including last week's 2-1 victory away to NorVan, have seen the Surrey side steady the ship. This week they get a free hit against last placed Campo and a chance for the Pavi Dhillons and Nick Soolsmas of the squad to climb the golden boot race. Not much to analyze here, it will likely be a feat in and of itself if Campo can keep it to single digits.

Pegasus v CCB LFC
A most intriguing Surrey derby Friday at Newton. CCB are reborn as they are unbeaten in there last three, going toe to toe with some of the side currently hovering near the top of the table. It is a uncharacteristic attention to defensive detail that has provided the much rebranded side with the platform for their recent successes. Their summer recruit-a-thon netted them a plethora of offensive weapons, but as long as they were bleeding goals at the back, establishing themselves as an elite level team was always going to be a tricky proposition. However, if they can continue to shore up the back as they have been of late, then there does not appear to be any reason why they could not compete with the rest of the VMSL's elite sides. That being said, with the number of sensitive egos they currently employ, it does feel somewhat like a bit of a box of matches waiting to ignite. At the very least it is a delicate balancing act, though at the minute it is all working harmoniously so they heads of power at CCB will be hoping this vein of form can continue. Pegasus on the other hand are now third bottom and sitting precariously outside of the relegation zone. A hard fought 2-2 draw with Inter last time out proved that they can still compete with anyone in the league on their day and Peg will be ruing the fact that they wasted a 2-0 lead in that one. The problem, of course, is that it has simply just not been "their day" often enough this season. CCB are bang in form and will be looking to settle the some old debts after their local rival beat them at all three times of asking last season. Peg should never be discounted, but based on current form the "away" side have to be the favourites in this one.

Richmond Hibernian v Club Inter EDC
The no Habib no win trend continued for Inter last week as they could only must a 2-2 draw with struggling Pegasus while their talisman watched on suspended. The good news for "Chinter" is, of course, that Habib will be eligible once more for this game and that, given Richmond's current form, he more than likely to find his way onto the score sheet. Hibs were dragged officially into the relegation zone after they were thoroughly pummeled 7-0 by Coquitlam. It is perhaps quite likely that the boys from below sea level with remain in the drop zone until January when they once more get a chance to face their fellow strugglers. It is all going pear shaped rather quickly for Richmond as they have now conceded 40 goals on the season and their offense is not nearly predatory enough to counter that on a weekly basis. This looks like exactly the prescription that Inter need. It looks very clearly like their will be eight teams competing for six, or seven maximum, spots in the Provincial cup and with the Italian/Chilean side currently in a three way tie for that sixth spot, they can hardly afford to be dropping points to the teams at the bottom of the league. Expect the trend of Habib scoring and Inter winning to continue.

West Van v NorVan
It is the first North Shore derby for a few seasons and NorVan have certainly reacquainted themselves well with the top flight. Irrespective of their 2-1 loss to Rovers last weekend, NorVan sit tied for fourth place currently and have held their own with several of the classic VMSL "big name" sides. That being said, their only win, other than against the bottom four, came over a then slumping CCB. Draws against Inter and Coquitlam were well played, but, as we turn to the real dog days of the season, we will now get to see what the true pedigree of the newly promoted side is. Experienced teams will know that this is the portion of the campaign that separates the wheat from the chaff as it were and, with teams likely to begin focusing on a push towards Provincial Cup qualification, NorVan would seem like potentially a candidate to perhaps fall out of the race. Leading scorer Blake Burgon was apparently playing Masters Division 1 last year, so it will be interesting to see if he and his teammates can keep this pace up all season. West Van, meanwhile, are right in the thick of a title challenge and, after failing to usurp leader Rino's after their 1-1 draw last week, West Van will need to get right back on the horse or else they risk losing ground. NorVan will have a point to prove and that should add to a spicy atmosphere as this rivalry is reknewed. It will likely be nip and tuck, but I expect West Van to show their class and, knowing how necessary a win is to keep pace at the top, find a way to come away with all three points.

Guildford v Coquitlam Metro Ford
Happy time are here again for both these sides at the moment. Coquitlam 15 goals and three wins in their last three games have Coquitlam looking like the Coquitlam of old. Their rebound in form is thanks in large part to the acquisition of Adam Jones who had never seen eye to eye with previous coach Les Krivak but has come back into the fold under to new boss Alfredo Valente. Jones has been more that just a catalyst for Metro Ford's resurgence, his goals are leading the charge as the Tri Cities boys climb the table and he climbs the scoring charts. After beginning the season 0-0-6, with the only week they avoided losing having been the week their game against Rovers was postponed, they have now rattled off three straight wins and climbed to the safety of eighth place. While it looks likely that the Surrey crew will have enough to stay up this season, their three wins still came against their relegation rivals and can barely wallpaper over the cracks in their squad. The fact is, they don't have an Adam Jones or a Carlo Basso to call upon and that could prove fatal at this level. That being said, it is about finding a way to stay up and then build an perhaps, if they maintain their place in the league, they can entice a player or two of comparable pedigree into the club moving forward. For now though, these surely would be bonus points, though coming in on a three game win streak should give Guildford some confidence. Perhaps they can keep it rolling a pull of a shock, but Coquitlam have to be favourites, especially given their current form.
