This isn't probably in the right thread but..............
Quote from league.....
"NOTE TO TEAMS: If the city makes the decision to leave a field open--or to allow user discretion--it is up to the referee to decide whether the field is playable or not.
A field in marginal condition may be available for use on the weekend, depending on the weather and state of the field at the time of inspection. In this case, Parks staff will leave the field OPEN TO USER DISCRETION. In general, if weather and surface conditions improve by the weekend, the field may be suitable for use. However, if the weather deteriorates, or field conditions remain poor (standing water, muddy or mushy playing surface), user groups are expected to show good judgement by not using the field. If poor judgement is exercised by user groups, and field damage occurs, groups may incur fines and this user discretion policy may be changed.
So the league says that it is up to the referee to decide if the field is playable but will fine the teams ( I am assuming that is who they would fine ) if the referee makes a bad decision............. talk about covering your own ASSES
You can be assured the ref will play the game because we don't get paid when this happens..........that is ****ing shocking.......
So what happens if a team checks the field the night before, it is fine, but then overnight it becomes unplayable? Is the home team still fined? In the valley it is the home teams responsibility to check the field, if the other team and ref show up and the field is unplayable the home team gets fined. This goes for the ref's fees, and it also stop's abuse of fields.

(k) It is the responsibility of the home team to inspect their field on game day. The home team shall be liable for traveling costs for the visiting team and game official’s fee should the game be postponed by the referee due to unplayable field conditions. Amount of fine to be determined by the Executive.
