Is this where the Davis money went??Finally there will be a professional football championship team in Vancouver. It's been a long time.
Brandon was one of the best kids out there, he lost his life at the age of 19 after a car accident last week. He fought for a week but injuries were too severe. He was the younger brother of Derrick Bassi and had a scholorship to play at SFU last year, he joined our squad after their season ended and was just dominate at centerback, at 6'4 he was a towering presense and played the full 90 in the quarters, semis and finals for us in the Provincial Cup. He had such a bright future ahead of him on and off the pitch. Wouldn't have surprised me if he went professional soon. Mature beyond his years, he had already mapped out his life in regards to graduating from SFU early and becoming a teacher. This one hurts, we are going to miss you Brandon, rest easy Beastmode.
@Ballbaby I just found the news/video/images of the accident, that looked ugly - the things you witness / attend to is unfathomable to me, no idea how you do itThe coincidences and facets of fate I experience sometimes is overwhelming. I was in Nanaimo with my SU team last when Brandon was there with his CCB teammates, his brother and mom and dad. I had a good chat with his mom after the game and I see his dad often at games anyway. I stated to his mom what a great kid and future Brandon had. Like his brother Derrick, he was very talented, but Brandon had a more calm and business-like approach to the game like star #1 stated could have facilitated him as a future pro. Typical younger brother who learns from his older brother scenario. This is what Brandon's mom and I talked about. Then one week later, I am being called to a severe motor vehicle accident as a Battalion Chief, with multiple victims that required several of our trucks to respond. Very rare that a Battalion Chief gets requested to attend, but this was a very chaotic scene in a residential neighbourhood. When I arrived, our crews were dealing with multiple victims. I had no idea that one of the victims was Brandon. I'm glad that I didn't know. I have encountered this quite a few times in my career, and it's devastating when you are dealing in tragic circumstances with someone you know. The soccer world ties us all together, so it shouldn't be surprising to experience these events with someone you know. But sometimes I shudder at the timing and circumstances of how and when and why things happen.
I wish the Bassi family my condolences. I wish the CCB team who cherished and relied and celebrated with Brandon a short time ago my condolences as well. I also extend my condolences to his SFU team and coaches. The kid was all business on the field. I would expect your teams to carry on in exactly that fashion.
