The Canadian men's national team are set for another significant international test this summer, with the announcement of a friendly on Sunday, June 9 against the French national team. The match will take place at The Matmut Atlantique in Bordeaux, France, which should give Canada yet another opportunity to experience an exciting European home environment. They are also taking on The Netherlands during the same window on June 6 in Rotterdam. France are currently ranked second in the World by FIFA, having won the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and finishing runners-up to Argentina at the 2022 edition. They will be preparing for this summer's Euro tournament, whether they have been drawn into a tricky Group D with The Netherlands, Poland and Austria. Canada, meanwhile, will be preparing for the side who bested France in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final, as they face Lionel Messi's Argentina to open the 2024 Copa América on June 20. Canada's group also includes Chile and Peru. Canada has only played France one of the time in the nation's history, losing 1-0 in their FIFA World Cup debut at the 1986 edition in Mexico. The Canadian men's national team will now face three opponents currently ranked in the Top 10 in the World this summer, taking on Argentina (1st), France (2nd) and The Netherlands (7th). Canada is currently ranked 49th in the world.
