Canada Soccer announced Bev Priestman's 23-player squad for the 2024 SheBelieves Cup on Thursday, ahead of the competition kicking off on April 6. There are two changes from the squad that reached the semifinals of the Concacaf W Gold Cup in March, with Janine Beckie and Desiree Scott returning to the team after both dealing with long-term injuries. They replace Marie-Yasmine Alidou and Nichelle Prince, respectively, with Prince getting injured at the W Gold Cup. Sydney Collins and Jayde Rivière were also unavailable for selection due to injury. The rest of the squad is the same, and includes W Gold Cup Golden Boot winner Adriana Leon, and Olivia Smith -- who took home that competition's Best Young Player award. Leon, Ashley Lawrence, and captain Jessie Fleming were all named to the tournament's Best XI. Canada will open their SheBelieves Cup on April 6 with a semifinal against Brazil at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The winner of that match will meet the winner of the United States vs Japan at Lower.com Field in Columbus on April 9 in the final, with the losers set to play in a third-place game in the Ohio capital that same day. "Now that we know our Olympic path and with the Games getting closer, everything we do now is with Paris 2024 in mind," said Bev Priestman in a press release. "Our recent W Gold Cup tournament experience was critical in the development of how we play, roster evolution and tight turnaround processes and the SheBelieves will continue to build on that." Canada most recently played Brazil in Montreal and Halifax late last year in a pair of friendly matches, with Brazil winning the first one 1-0 and Canada winning 2-0 on the east coast in the second match.
