Best game I have ever witnessed....even if it was on the telly was #1. Will never forget that game. What a French team.....one of the best teams not to win the WC in my opinion and who could ever forget Schumaker's heinous hit on Battiston

well I'm sorry if the request seemed a bit redundant but not everyone on TTP is as super duper sharp as yourself. Some require a little encouragement.

And while Schumaker was unafraid to hit Battiston, I believe Rocheteau (sp?) was hitting Platini's wife.

Smells like team spirit in a French stylee.

Oh and if Schumaker had been red-carded (which he should have been btw) there may have been a very different outcome. It was as good an argument in favour of video evidence being used as anything we've seen recently.

wasn't alive at that point but sure it was an amazing game. but the game that stands out in my mind was #51 man utd vs real madrid. beckhams free kick was unreal, ronaldos hat trick was amazing. just an all around great game, not saying it was the best ever just the one that stands out most too me. With only a handful of games on that list i actually remember seeing i just have to go with that one.

I was at that game in the Rose Bowl, it was fantastic, back and forth, Romania deserving the win, too bad it was played in the states, but to be at that match sitting right behind the Argentina bench, and Diego not far behind me, what an experience.

Agreed. I was 12 at the time. The match still gives me goosebumps. I believe Italy had to win to advance and when Falcao (sp?) tied it up, I remember thinking it was over.

Agreed. Have great memories of Josimar hitting a cracker of a goal from what seemed like 40 yards out in the 86 World Cup. They had marvelous teams.

I would have to say the best team to NEVER win a World Cup was the 1974 Dutch team.......amazing.......Cruyff, Neeskans, Krol, Rep, Rensenbrink......but there have been so many great teams...hard to get it down to one.
