Polonia 2- Croatia 4

Pretty dissapointing result today down at Beaconsfield for Polonia. Croatia went up 1-0 on a very nice goal about ten minutes into the game off a cross and it looked like it was going to be a long game. We responded on a freekick about five minutes later and eventually went up on a PK about ten minutes after that.

The second half started off very poorly when one of our guys was sent off for a second yellow after a foul on Johny Sulentic who did very well to embelish it. Croatia then got a penalty call when Johny Sulentic was mauled in the area  ****in pansie. The pansie burried the spotter. After that we tried to hold them off but the disadvantage in numbers killed us. They scored the winner of a very nice header and added one late on the counter attack.

If our guy had not been sent off it would have been a much different game and we very likely could have been on the winning side. Croatia is a very good team with great individual skill but their not too solid at the back and did not really have any great scoring chances when both teams were at 11 apiece. They did really well to get the ball into our half of the field , had most of the possession but couldnt do anything in the last 25 until our guy was off.

Good luck to them in the next round.

Inter 3 - Burnaby 0

Great game by Inter this afternoon. Inter played extremely well and the score was never really in doubt although Burnaby did give us a battle. Corazza with 2 and Jomo with 1.

Next is the semi-finals with Columbus. Should also be a classic

Clan Bus put the final bullet into Peg winning 3-2. I hear it was a terrific game. Peg were up 2-0 at one point too.

VMSL seems to be implementing a new rule and seeking ratification at the next AGM (after the season ends). The question is not so much the rule which makes sense, but the timing and how does this benefit Metro Ford?

Notice from the League today:

An amendment to the Rules and Regulations was made at our last executive
meeting. The amendment was made to Section 7, sub-section 7.20 (a) and reads
as follows: " A team playing a ineligible player in League Cup competition
will be expelled from further Cup play". The above amendment will take place
immediately and must be ratified at the next AGM.

Re: Imperial Cup : Quarter-Final Results

A second question re: the rule change and how this might be interpreted. Let's say you cheat in the Imperial but otherwise qualify for the Province Cup by virtue of where you place in the League standings.
Does this mean you will be disqualified from the provincials as well?
Another question: what if you play an ineligible player and would be winning the League Cup for finishing first even with those 3 points deducted. Does this then mean that you can't collect the trophy for winning the league.

The wording is a bit ambiguous and probably should say from that particular cup and not be so general as someone coming in second to a team that played an ineligible player could protest under this new rule that they should win the league cup.

The best question is how does this benefit Metro Ford?? There has be something for those guys in it.

How can an amendment take place immediately? It can't. It has to be discussed and voted on and then if it passes it can take place.

"It must be ratified at the next agm". Sounds more like a dictatorship.

Mr. apprentice....you should not be calling Johnny S a pansie for a bunch of cheats like yourselves playing a illegal player against PCOV...your team are a bunch pansie's or cheats..

Well what is it? Pansie or cheat. We never played an illegal player against PCOV, if we had the league would have found out  and we would have been given the loss. Regarding Johnny Sulentic, the guy is a great player with tons of skill and is definetly the spark plug of Croatia but I just dont really care to much for guys who are rolling all over the ground one minute then up and about like nothing happend the next. His embelishment of the foul on him near the touch line resulted in a second yellow for our guy and his dive in the box resulted in the penatly which tied the score. If your hurt from a tackle stay down or get off.Pansie.

Hey Apprentice,

I had an excellent view of th pk call on Johnny. 100% correct. The ref that is.
The Polska defender pushed another Croat so that the two of them landed on top of Johnny who was preparing for a shot.

It resembled a rugby scrum more than anything.

The rule is a direct result of a Div2 Cup game which saw NK play an ineligble player. This player scored the winning goal. The league was called about it but after getting bounced around for 2 days was told by an exec that the 48hr window for a protest was up so there was "nothing that they could do". The original call was within the 48hrs mind you. If they can change the constitution effective immediately I have a problem with there inability to right the wrong. Anyways...As the issue was being decided on by the VMSL, they discovered that the constitution was short a couple of paragraphs for such a situation. This is being done to shore up that rock solid, seldmon seen, piece of paper....

Re: Imperial Cup : Quarter-Final Results

Heart-breaker for the Peg lads yesterday.

Great day for a game though with many Peg supporters coming out albeit none that I could see from the club they belong to. What's up with that? :D

Anyways, I really thought the lads were going to pull this one off, especially when they matched the pace set by Clanbus in the first half.

Reedy scored the opening goal, vintage style, rising up between 2 defenders to nod it in from about 5 yards out.

Peg then went up 2-nil after Steady kept up his run to poke the ball past Zenga from about 16 yards out.

But then the wheels started to fall off. A quick Clanbus counterattack saw Eggy with acres of space on the left and he cracked a great strike with the outside of his left from about 20(?) that curled into the far corner of the net. There was less than 5 minutes until the half at that point... 2-1 Peg.

The pace slowed noticeably in the second half with not too many chances from either side. Costley popped his shoulder out and had to be subbed which seemed to inspire Clanbus a bit more though their U20 line-changes certainly helped :)

Clanbus tied it up when the ref had a bit of a shocker and allowed them to take a quick free kick 10 yards forward from where the infraction occurred  A chipped through ball saw a great finish by Rosenlund(?).

Clanbus scored the winner with 3 minutes to go and the end of an era was complete.

Good game to watch and Clanbus looks to be a very good young squad that should be able to compete in the league for years to come.

I could tell that the lads just didn't have it in them anymore when they were commenting after the game about how good they thought the ref was and were asking who he was... quite sad when your feel and vision for the game go like that so quickly :D

Cheers,

~Regs.

Had the play on tape and it didnt look like that at all. The Polska defender went in hard shoulder to shoulder and then johnny fell over from his own guy hitting him. There was no push, if there was it wasnt on that play, video proves it.

Re: Imperial Cup : Quarter-Final Results

How's your video on the goalie taking down our guy 10 min later in the box where there wasn't a call??? I think it all ended up the way it should have. A win for us. Good class by polonia picking on the smallest guy on the field at the end of the game. It looked like WWF where tehy got our player to there bench... Next time pick on someone a lil bit bigger... like Bronco... :D

On to the Semi's!!! and the Provincials!! :bronco: :knvb: :wa:

To have to watch that Polska effort on video for a second time must have been torture.

BJB summed it up the best. So I'll leave it at that.

What kinda quote is that? How can anyone predict stuff like that? If this, If that, If he scored, If he didn't get a card, If whatever

On a side note, I'd have to say Johnny is the frontrunner for league MVP with Matt Mori a close second (especially if Mighty Khlasa stay up). Arguably the top two dominant players in the league right now.
