I'm not much of a baseball follower but does anyone think the Cubs might have spent to much signing Alfonso Soriano to an 8 year 136 million dollar contrat?

On a side note the Jays made a huge mistake signing the over the hill DH hitter Frank Thomas to a 2 year 18 million dollar contract.

High risk, high reward. He doesn't have to play in the field anymore, and obviously he won't be stealing any bases, so that helps prevent some of the injuries that he's been prone to in the past. But with Wells-Thomas-Glaus as your 3-4-5 hitters, it doesn't get much better than that. Even if Thomas doesn't get to his numbers last year, him being in the line-up should help Wells and Glaus see some better pitches.

Look for the Jays to add Kennedy from Anaheim and Barajas(sp?) from Texas as their new catcher.

Also, don't be surprised if Wells is gone this year, the jays won't want to let him go for nothing at the end of next year like they did with Delgado. Coming back the other way should be a quality starter and a middle infielder with a good bat.

and yes, Soriano is being overpaid, but it's also a move by the cubs to show Lou that they want to contend and are willing to do whatever it takes.
