Club founder passes away

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ernie Griffin, one of the founders of Grandview Legion 179's soccer program. Along with Bill Mitchell, Ernie had been instrumental in rejuvenating youth soccer in East Vancouver, with the help and sponsorship of the Royal Canadian Legion 179 Branch. Ernie passed away at home on September 11, 2013.

Ernie's family will be holding a memorial service for Ernie at the Grandview Legion Auditorium (Upstairs, 2205 Commercial Drive in Vancouver) on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 from 1:00 - 5:00 pm. Condolences from our current club (VAFC) and our family and all the Grandview Legion soccer alumni go out to Milly and the Griffin family.

Bill left us a little while ago too, but both these gents left us a legacy of soccer in East Van that will be hard to surpass.
