Reports that CSB is yanking the rights to Canada Soccer broadcasts from OneSoccer.

Could mean that TSN/others will be picking it up. Could mean back to the dark ages of Canada Soccer broadcast coverage.

Presumably this has impacts for CanPL as that is CSB's baby.

Given the business this group has conducted to this point, tough to see them not already having something lined up before making a move like this. You would have to think that no broadcasting would almost destroy the CanPL...

So we will see what it means going forward.

Big key though - Hopefully this means the end for Wheeler and his terrible commentary!

It may also explain why the new chief executive got cold feet. Maybe she got wind that this was collapsing and a big revenue source was missing. Also, with the announcement of Bev Priestman's renewal today, one major area where she could affect the product was already decided?

I prefer those notions to personal distress for herself or her family.

For what it's worth OneSoccer firing back at CSB:

So looks like another complete tire fire.

Phew - was starting to think CSA might have actually turned some type of corner. Clearly, it is business as usual!

Sounds like Mediapro didn't pay CSB their full fees in 2023.

I seem to remember something similar happening with them and Ligue1 several years ago.

Overall, the development right now sucks. Aside from Wheeler, there’s quite a few people now with no where to go.

Anyone can stream or even setup a streaming company but it’s the production stuff that costs an arm and a leg…. Unless you want league uno / bc soccer / vmsl/ fvsl quality broadcasts

I really hope we don't lose the ability to watch CPL games. Was nice watching Vancouver and Pacific play on One soccer. Especially given you can barely catch any TFC or Whitecaps games on TV anymore.

Interestingly, reading what the hardcore CPL followers have to say (i.e. the guys actually paying for OneSoccer as opposed to just getting it for free as a bonus with a Fubo subscription), they were not very happy with OS's production. Apparently they maxed out their broadcasts at 720p.

60 million given to popular online communities... Regs how much of that did you get? ;)

I read that blurb as more of an allegation that the CSB are stiffing OneSoccer, but I guess we'll see how it all plays out in Court...
