Excellent Site Update!

[Regs]

Word on the street is that the Excellent site is going to be unavailable sometime tomorrow until sometime Saturday for whatever reason.

Seems a bit odd to have a scheduled maintenance time on perhaps the most important day of the week for visitors but if it is to include a new revamped Excellent Site II, I won't complain

If I'm going to be honest about it, I would give it a C- and that is only because it got rid of the flash intro and the use of frames.

No one likes to hear that their efforts don't really meet expectations but I have to say, the site falls flat for an "update" in the year 2010

I have to wonder why the site needed to be down for such an extended period of time to be replaced by what we are presented with today. There should have been ZERO downtime.

The more I go through the site, the more I am inclined to change my grade to an F, that's how disappointed I am knowing that there are people out there in the VMSL who would donate their time and expertise to help the league out in so many areas and, well, the league still refuses to reach out to them.

Hey Ruben,

I offered my help plenty of times in the past and couldn't get the courtesy of one single email reply back.

But are you offering up the old defense of "don't criticize the work of a volunteer, let's see you do better"?

Because even volunteers need to have standards. The fact that those in charge, whether you or Mr. Azzi, have not LISTENED to the comments being made over the years is where my disappointment lies.

Where is the league logo?
Why is the site now Grey, Black and Puke as the predominate colour scheme?
Why are "important" things highlited with a selection of colours picked from the rainbow?(even Out for Kicks Soccer Club | Home of Vancouver's GLBT friendly soccer club knows enough to keep away from rainbow highlites)
Basically, where is the identity that the league should portray?

But withstanding all that, you'll note that I said there are plenty of people in the VMSL that could help out. I'm not in the VMSL in any capacity

Oh and you want positive comments for your league from me? I said plenty about the opening weekend for premier teams this year. And I've promoted the teams in the league as the best in the province numerous times over the years. Just ask the FVSL

Though some of those suggestions with logo and identity are pretty good points also. Both FVSL and VISL have their logo there. Would be a good time to upgrade the VMSL logo actually.

Are you serious? A league that can count about 3 wins over VMSL competition in the last 10 years of Provincial Cup play...really? Most VMSL'ers would take our bush website and non-standard soccer balls over your bush quality footie any day.

its a start... but front page still needs work (lots of it) impressions and opinions have been made because of the front page....

Does the vmsl have any partnership with the white caps? ( maybe that can be advertised?)

More focus on the premier league is must (should be the emphasis of the site)

must add team roster/ online registration ect.
maybe a link to field closure and weather forecast
possbily a photo section can be added
maybe links to the local papers and their articles on the premier teams form week to week...video highlights from the north shore news dude

Just looked at the excellent site and have to agree with Regs. The colours look like something found in the occasional childs diaper. It is very simple which is good and if they can get rid of that one color I think it would be a C+ .

Hopefully the executive aren't as stubborn as that ( the board is open to being more progressive).. Its all about perception, which the vmsl site is seeming to lack. Right now its just the same old house with a different coat of paint on it..

Tweak what the others offer on their sites and add some originality.

hell i'll even go out on a limb here and tell em to put a Twitter link on their site.. DOES THE VALLEY TWEET YET?
