Z,

You might want to keep an eye on the back end with this fella. Seems a bit to excited to put a hot sausage in his mouth.

whalley is shite

cheers

We're not Whalley :D We basically went a whole season drinking by ourselves, it'll be nice to have some company for once.

I'm glad I'm not a part of this garbage div. 1 thread any longer :)

Thanks for the good times. Go ACBC, and go O-Dog with my recovery. Come and have a pint with me at the John B.

So true.

Last year against Dynamo I get injured....

After the X-Ray, the doc with Inter in the mid-90's and sitting out 2-3 games because it hurt to run.

So amazing how the story changes, one year its "The Dynamo broke my leg" and the next its "last year against the Dynamo I get injured".

From what your doctor is saying, you are made of glass and have broken yourself a few times... sounds like the bruise you got in our game, drew attention to your already broken leg ;)

2008-2009 Season - Div 1 teams

Thought I would get some pre-season banter going..

Which teams are back this year?

Athletic Club BC
Port Moody Gunners
North Delta FC
SFC Rangers
Dewdney Coachmen
Surrey Sporting
Langley Athletic
Poco City Reserves
Aldergrove Warriors
TWU Titans
Delta Metro Utd
Langley Dynamo
Chilliwack Rapids
Aldergrove Utd
Tsawwassen Royals
Golden Ears Cobras
Dewdney Razorbacks
Coquitlam MF Arsenal
Peace Arch Utd
Whalley Utd

I take it ACBC are in promoted to Prem
Coquitlam Arsenal, Peace Arch and Whalley are relegated to Div 2
Peace Arch Selects, Whalley Strikers, and Mission Blues are promotd to Div 1

Anyone have any other news?

and Yes, we already know that Dude takes it up the ass! :p

Acbc moved up and IIRC Port Moody lost their play in game.

Am I correct in that historically the bottom 3 are relegated?

Therefore Whalley, PAU, and CMF Arsenal drop?

Was there not heresay and rumours that Whalley would fold?
So then does Dewdney get relagted? Or does another D2 team move up and then a subsequent 7th D3 team move up to D2?

The FVSL will probably have the alignments up a week or two after tha last day for returning teams registrations being due, was it not August 11th or something?

GEU Blackknights are in Div 1

Correct me if I am wrong Bluebird but a big chunk of the Prem squad from last year will make up this team. They will be a strong team.

Bluebird is the Prem team going with the Hissing Cobra's?

Aug 11th is correct.

Franchise, GEU's premier guys are dropping to play D1? Does that mean the premier team is going to get humped week in, week out this season?

How is that? GEU is asking to be releagted? I thought they beat the Gunners in their quest to stay up?

They finished second last with PoMo Fury in last in premier.

GEU has changed coaches as with many things...i would say only 3-4 players from lasts years squad will be again playin prem...the rest making up the div.1 squad (which should contend for top spot) with a few leaving GEU all together.

A few big signings for GEU prem will make them strong enough to compete week in and week out, russell huggon coming from metro ford will be huge!....early prediction premier to finish just behind mid pack.

Ive been away for a while (hiding in caves), not sure if it has been posted, the team formerly known as the coachman has been busy signing some new players, a former ( last year) premier captain and one current (annoying) moderator to its roster. The first is going to help bring down our goals against , and the ladder bring our goals against up, so they should equal each other out. I will let Jack name the players.....

I remember 2 things they talked about at the AGM was movign to the 5 sub rule used in the VMSL as well as having linesmen at all games. Does anyone know if they're moving forward with those things? Most teams seemed to support it.

Interesting.

I wonder if this has anything to do w/ the proposed "Super League" Regs was spreading all these rumors about earlier this year?

Kidding Regs. Don't hit me w/ the banning stick now.

Seriously, though...it is co-incidental, as it is pretty well known Azzie was steadfast against the unlimited sub rule.

Personally, I think it is a step in the right direction for Prem, and from a theoretical standpoint, div. 1 too.

I just think in Div. 1 you'll have a tougher time making it fly on an implentation standpoint. The Whalley Rangers, you know, sign 35 guys every season.

Some of the coaches are going to have fun with this...

Yeah, I know our coaches would have a tough time not being able to sub 600 times a game  But it would make you have to prepare better, and for teams that do want to make the jump from D1 to Premier, they'd be more accustomed to it (and hopefully it would make them more competitive when they get there). The change wouldn't be a big deal for teams like us (newly promoted to D1), as we're not going to be challenging for promotion, so we can get used to it.
