I'm starting this poll out with what I thought to be the three Greatest Canucks. I will not be closing this poll, so if you can come up with another former or present player who deserves to be in the poll and explain why they should make the list, I will consider your comments and maybe your player will make the poll.

I chose Smyl. He was the best leader the team ever had(with the exception of Messier ), and he actually cared about the team. Bure didn't. Linden did, but didn't put up the same numbers as Smyl. That's my pick Young Padiwan. Who did you vote for?

I recieved a P.M. regarding, who a certain "ttper" thought should be on the list and he gave me a long list but one name that really caught my eye was Cam Neely. He played an astonishing 201 games and had an amazing 104 points.Should have put him on

Sorry Apprentice you forgot 1. Richard Brodeur, he was phenominal in a Canuck uniform. So i will vote for Bure because he was clearly the GREATEST Canuck of all time. He is the most exciting and explosive player in the NHL. Everytime he touched the puck he had fans on the edge of there seats and teams shiteing their pants.

I think you should add Tony Tanti to this poll too. The older ttp'ers will know him well. I believe that when he was in Oshawa he broke a couple of scoring records by Gretzky. He racked up 470 points in 8 seasons and is currently 5th overall in team scoring

Maybe not the greatest of all time, but the greatest fighter of all time was Mr. Gino "Stone Hands" Odjick (sorry for the spelling). Not for goal scoring, but back then the big three were considered to be Gino, Domi, and Probert.
Brashear, no way. Didn't fight enough and thought he could actually score goals.

Jinky, Larionov could be one of the most creative players with the puck and he did have a great 3 year stay in Vancouver. He averaged almost 50 points a year during those seasons and could be considered one of the better Canucks over the last ten years. But not in the greatest category.

Thomas Gradin deserves the nod.

Beater, If Brodeur makes the list for his excellent run in 82' It would be only fitting for Captain Kirk to make the list for his play in 94'. That is not greatness, that is a great year.

I also think that the Russian Rocket should have his jersey retired . I don't care which one , probably number 10 and I think it is not right that Trevor Letowski, a penalty killing specialist , should be able to wear Pavel's number.

Dana Murzyn

I have to say Dana Murzyn,always admired his cat like quickness.

Best ever Canuck has to go to Bure,he is and will always be the most dangerous and most explosive offensive threat that has ever sported the black,yellow,orange turned to white,blue and black.Smyl was all heart and put up some good numbers but no where near the talent of Pavel.

that little prick was an amazing hockey player, but he had(s) no respect for the community, the city or the franchise... ignorant bastard!!! to retire a player's jersey should he not display some character as a player of that team??? a good player he was, but he should never recieve that type of royal treatment and be even said in the same breathe as a player of the Steamer's stature!!!

ps. good for Latowski, nice to see some young lad with big enough balls in a Canucks uni... we sure need more lads willing to play for the symbol on their jersey rather than the name and number on their backs!!!

Jimmy, Dana Murzyn was in the Honorable Mention Poll but he got beat out by a Pylon.

Guinness and Gong Show, both of your points are very true, Bure is a selfish prick who enjoyed dipping into the powder but, if he is the "best player" to ever wear a canucks jersey don't you think his number should be retired. His stats,skill, and ability to bring people to the rink and not his attitude speak for themselves.

Can't argue the fact that bure was the best to ever wear a canuck jersey as far as a skilled player goes. In my opinion you should be a complete player on and off the ice and spend a good duration of your career with a club, in order to have your jersey hanging from the rafters. He did bring the fans in but i'm sure it would leave a pretty shitty taste in everyones mouth to see his number hanging everytime they go to G.M. Place to watch those bums play.

I didn't bother replying to the PM, just post my thoughts here. Then.

I always liked Greg "Gus" Adams while he was in Canuck colors. Played some quality years in Vancouver and was a big part of the 94 Cup run. I doubt he played enough here to qualify for best player ever, mind you.

Tanti is a great shout. Should really be on the list.

Kirk McLean and King Richard should both be on there, simply for their heroics during Vancouver's only deep forays into the post-season. Kirk should make the list simply for "the save" against Calgary in '94.

Cliff Ronning? Orland Kurtenbach? Petri Skriko?
