The longest-serving GM in Raptor history got shown the door today. I actually liked Grunwald - he was the architect behind the Raptors' three playoff appearances, something the Grizz management utterly failed to accomplish in the same amount of time.

Unfortunately, he nailed his coffin shut by handing Hakeen Olajuwon all that money back in 2001. The Dream was ruined by injuries, never contributed much and killed the Raps in terms of payroll. The Raptors haven't been the same since. Their payroll has been fcuked for the last three years - they currently have the 10th highest in the NBA, but are 23rd in the standings.

He moved his only two remaining big men (Davis and Williams) this year for a couple of perimeter players, seemingly convinced he could get a team in the East playoffs without any size up front. Whoops. It was a desperate move by a desperate GM, and it backfired big time.

These are bad times for Toronto fans. Usually a new GM means tearing down the work of the old GM, which could mean an ugly rebuilding process in the near future. Aside from Bosh, I don't think anybody is untouchable on that team anymore. And that includes Vince Carter.
