Imperial Cup is just around the corner, with the draw taking place Thursday Feb 22 @ 8pm in the league office. A little different this year as only the 14 premier teams and the top division 1 team from side A and B will be participating. Again same as previous years: The 4 Semi-Finalists get a berth into the provincial cup.

Teams Included:

Inter
Columbus
Metro Ford
Norvan
Croatia
West Van
Olympics
Sporting
Surrey
AFC
Sapp
Indo
Firefighters
Sikh Temple

Looks like Westside from Div 1A and City FC Blaze from Div 1B.

Comments/Thoughts.....

Re: Imperial Cup 2007

Interesting games going on here. (PS It's posted on the vmsl website as well).

Looks like Inter/Slurrey/Sporting/Columbus were seeded. I'm not sure how the rest worked.

Anybody go to the draft?? When is it starting??

Predictions?

Re: Imperial Cup 2007

Sapperton 4 - 2 Delta/Blaze

Took us about 60 minutes to get into the game... but we were 3-0 down. Lots of heart from our boys to make it 3-2, until a late one killed our hopes of a comeback. Fairly sprited affair for the last 30.

We look foward to 19+ games like that next year.

Good luck to Sapp the rest of the way.

Could have been loads more but Didar had himself a gem. Class bunch Indo are and I wish them the very best in their next, hopefully not last, game.

Good luck guys.

Re: Imperial Cup 2007

Bit of a gong show to start. Apparently we were double booked with some kids out in Burnaby. Had to play the first half on the one pitch and move across to the next field to play the 2nd half.

We came out well and got the goal from a corner kick, a couple of bobbles and a scorpion kick to finish it right under the bar. A beauty:D

Sporting came back at us, but apart from the one good save from big Wicksy never really produced enough to threaten.
Off to the other pitch in the 2nd half and although Sporting had the majority of the play I thought, we fought well and continued to scrap for every ball.
A couple of scares near the end for us, but we finished the game well and could have stolen another.
Great result for the boys who never doubt one another on the pitch. Credit to Sporting....a class act.

Alikira, I thought you might have been out to see your Delta boys and our game right after or is this a bad time to be bringing it up:D . Not to worry, 16 and rompin' it;)

Clan Bus 1 - WestVan 0

Heavy downpour all game. Fast paced, spirited, and entertaining. WestVan came out flying but lost steam after 25 minutes. Both teams created some good chances. Clanbus took the lead 5 minutes into the 1st extra time on a deflected shoot that looped over the keeper from 20 out. Luca almost gave it back a minute later off a re-direct that he fumbled on the goal line. WestVan applied some good pressure at the end and had many dangerous free kicks but couldn't put it away. Clanbus missed 3 or 4 sitters off the counter in the last 3 minutes. All in all a very entertaining game.

Looked like Surrey U and the looong ball out there; WestVan didn't use their midfield once during regulation time, and only after were they down did they manage to use the mid after Clanbus dropped back into a defensive shell.
