Aneheim trade Keith Carney to Vancouver for a prospect and I believe a 2nd draft pick....perhaps a little too much for Vancouver to be giving up.

Canucks Source On Bertuzzi.
A just spoke with a few sources close to the Canucks front office to get confirmation about the two deals, and I was told that the Rangers and Habs need to make better offer to get Bertuzzi off their roster.

Another source said, Nonis is trying to start a bidding war.

The Minnesota Wild have traded defenceman Willie Mitchell and a second-round pick to the Dallas Stars for defencemen Shawn Belle and Martin Skoula. The Ottawa Senators have acquired centre Tyler Arnason from the Chicago Blackhawks for winger Brandon Bochenski. The Boston Bruins have also traded left winger Sergei Samsonov to the Edmonton Oilers. Details to follow.

Vancouver acquires defenceman Eric Weinrich from St. Louis for a prospect and a third-round pick. New York Islanders trade Oleg Kvasha to the Phoenix Coyotes for a third-round pick. Phoenix also trades centre Jamie Lundmark to Calgary for a draft pick.

Sergei Samsonov to the Edmonton Oilers was for Marty Reasoner and a draft pick.

The Canucks are apparently holding off on announcing the Weinrich trade because they have another that they want to announce at the same time.

Weinrich hasn't even been told by St. Louis that he has been traded yet. They had him on the radio and he was saying he hadn't heard a thing.

I think that it is St. Louis that is waiting to announce that Dean McAmmond has been traded back to the Oilers...but I could be mistaken!!!

Canucks made some good moves but do you guys really think the goaltending will hold up for them? I think Carolina and Edmonton made some good moves to help their teams. Things should be interesting down the stretch especially for the NW division.

Anybody know anything on this Juha Alen ( sp? ) guy? He came as part of the trade with Carney from Aneheim for Brett Skinner and a 2nd rounder......it was on the Canucks site. Steve McCarthy was also traded to the Thrashers for a conditional draft pick.
