Didn't even notice that. Awesome game, it looked like the Sharks were the smaller team the way Vancouver was laying the bodies out. Their D better get some magic skates or the Nuck's are going to be skating by them all series.
Simply put the Sharks are going to struggle, their defense is not very mobile...Dan Boyle is the only real skater on that backline. Walin, Murray and Vlasic look or looked last night, to be slow, and if the Nucks are getting pucks to the right areas on their dumps the wingers, even guys like Torres, nevermind Hansen and Raymond, will be skating by them all series, and if the Sharks compensate by sitting back deeper guys like Kesler will carry the puck in and do damage off the rush.
The Canucks just need to be able to weather the strom in their own end a bit better and break the puck out crisper, I always shudder when the puck is just rimmed around the boards to an idle winger, especially if those hulks like Murray are bearing down on them.
Luongo's gaff aside, i'd say that was a pretty good, albeit tight, game one. When their goalie is a star in the game (the losing tendy) you know you've outplayed your opponent.
I for one would just like to see a game where the opposing goalie wasn't the star. But it is nice to still be able to win even when the opposing goalie is standing on his head.
