Looking for feedback on this scenario?

Went for my first ever root canal today, after 1.5hrs, "the dentist says, we will take xrays, all going well, we will be done in 40mins, I will close up, and you won't have to come back next week"

Xray shows, "oops I perforated your other tooth" Your options are;

1) "'I can try to fix it, it may or may not work. Depends on your bodys' reaction"

2) "I can get you into a specialist, that will fix it proper,he has the right equipment, but your insurance won't cover it, it will be approx $1000-1200 to fix up front."

Now, I don't think for a second that I should pay for this! I work for the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, and I have an great dental plan.

I went for option one, basically because I couldn't scream at her, as my mouth was wired open!

She finishes up,say's we "need one more xray for our records, you don;t have to wait around, and can leave, if theres any problems, it will show up in 2-3 days, if not come back in 6 months fro a re-evaluation"

By the time her assistant was finished, she had left(lunch time), and I couldn't vent at her! Demanded she call me asap about this possible specialist bill. Haven't heard from her!

Anyone got any suggestions, opinions about this.

Me thinks I should not have to pay a nickel, to have this corrected!!!!

8 advil and 3 rum and cokes later, I am still in pain!

You can always take out a loan. :)

This story reminds me of the time I went for a root canal. I was a cheap, poor student in Victoria when my brother dropped me on my front teeth outside of a nightclub. The blood stain was on the sidewalk for 6 months apres  .

When I managed to sober up (7:30am) the dentist decided to do the procedure. It turned out he was a school mate of my real dentist back home. Funny, he decided to deduct the bill by $1000, considering it was a freak accident and all.

Advice, don't pay for it, or drop some names. Good luck, you'll be sore all over for awhile.

the pain of it all....

ah, so I guess I shouldn't bug you for the money your team owes the league...seems it's probably going to pay for the extra holes in your teeth. Maybe you could learn to play the new holes like a flute or something and hang out in front of liquor stores to earn the money! Pity, you had such a lovely smile.

and no, you shouldn't pay for damage your dentist caused

1st) My suggestion is to vent your frustration with your dentist and make sure she pays for any unnecessary expense

2nd) along with the helpful brushing advice given, make sure you massage the gums in a light circular motion for no less than 2 minutes, not putting too much pressure on the gums....oh, and don;t forget to floss and maybe you're smile will look something like this :D

recently instructed by my dental hygenist,
