Rangers beat Dundee and the taigs drew with Hibs (an all gaelic afair)... the point differential has been reduced to 13!!! watch out hoops, were a charging
Get that fcukin' up ya!! Couldn't stomach back-to-back trebles.
Dick obviously had his head up his arse keeping Loverkrands out of the side. The boy has played well ever since Dick took his hairpiece back tae the Dyke.
Bert's The Hero As Celtic's Treble Attempt Is Stopped
Barry Anderson reports from Hampden
RANGERS have knocked Celtic out of the CIS Cup to end a run of five Old Firm matches without a victory and take their place in the CIS Cup semi-final.
Bert Konterman is the Ibrox hero with a spectacular winner in the first period of extra time after strikes by Peter Lovenkrands and Bobo Balde saw the original 90 minutes end 1-1.
Celtic put up a determined showing in the match but in the end Rangers guts and endeavour were too much for Martin O’Neill’s men, despite a missed penalty by Shota Arveladze in the 71st minute.
There was s particular onslaught towards the end of extra time by Celtic as Rangers simply battled to hold onto their lead.
A magnificent save by Stefan Klos from a Moravcik shot and then a goal-mouth scramble almost saw Alex McLeish’s side pulled level for the second time in the semi-final.
Lovenkrands was outstanding for Rangers throughout, although it has to be said there were no poor showings from the Ibrox side.
They held on to give the new manager a debut win in the Old Firm fixture and also halt Celtic’s attempts at back-to-back Trebles.
Full value to the Rangers on their win today. I guess they just wanted the CIS Insurance cup more than we did.
What an amazing, lucky strike by Konterman to win the game.
I call it lucky, not because it pinballed off of five players on the way in, absolutely not, it was as good a goal as has been scored in Scotland this year, I call it lucky because as per fcuking usual, he was lucky to still be on the field after 30 minutes. I swear I heard the referee tell about 6 Rangers players, " If you do that one more time, I'll have no choice but to warn you again!"
Even more bad news for Celtic today, as it looks like Alex Ferguson will be staying on at Man Ure for an additional two years.
Why is this bad news for the CIS Cup Semi-Final LOSERS, you may ask. Well, this way our good man Martin O'Neil can see out the final two years of his contract, keep his 2million GBP worth of club shares and get the fcuk out of the piggery.
Bucky, that is great. A chance to win the Scottish equivalent of the Worthlessness Cup. This should help them get into the Champions' League.
Seriously, it was a matter of time before a result went the other way. Celtic have won a game or two on its' run over the FOD in which they may have been a touch lucky......
By all accounts, Balde had a lot of impact in the game, both positive and negative...
Here is the most important part of today's result........

HARTSON WANTED ON TEESSIDE
Having missed out on signing Dwight Yorke from Manchester United and losing out to Manchester United in the chase for Diego Forlan, Middlesbrough are now chasing Celtic and Wales striker John Hartson. The Sun claims a £6m deal could be imminent with the player apparently desperate to return to the Premiership only months after transferring to the Glasgow giants. Talks are said to begin early next week.
Good point, G. Admittedly, I am not the brightest bulb in the chandelier.
Captain,
You bring up yet another good point, with the "What have you done for me lately" business. Does this mean that when the Golden Oldies (ie. you and Jinks) wank on about '67, I can tell you to get tae fcuk?
RANGERS have emerged victorious from an Old Firm match for the second time this week as John Brown’s under-18’s beat Celtic 1-0 in the SFA Youth Cup.
A 25-yard strike, almost identical to the winner Bert Konterman scored in last night’s CIS Cup clash, from youngster Alan Hutton proved to be the only goal of the game as the Hoops were knocked out of their second cup competition within as many days.
More good news from Ibrox:
- Peter Loverkrands called up to the Denmark squad for their Pre-World Cup Friendly against Saudi Arabia
- Claudio Cannigia called up to the Argentina squad for their Pre-World Cup friendly against John Hartson's sheep shaggers.
