We started league play today against Seaquam and came out in the wrong end of a 1 - 0 score. We started poorly as Seaquam were being very physical (not dirty) and our new players to the team had a hard time adjusting to that style of play. They scored on a 'blooper' about 10 minutes into the game. Slowly, we started to become more aggressive and started matching them in that department. We created two good chances in the first half but with no luck.....
The second half was certainly an improvement as we managed to pin Seaquam in their end for periods and they were looking to counter-attack, which they did very well. Again, their keeper made a couple of fantastic saves and one of girls whiffed on a pass INSIDE THE SIX which would have tied it with about 5 minutes to go. Overall, considering it was our first game and that 10 of our players were on holidays for two weeks during Spring Break, we can take come positives from the game. Our grade 9 girl was the best player on the field for us today playing as a defender, which isn't her normal position.....Our grade 12 National player had a rough game today as she seemed to be a little behind in getting to the ball but our general lack of cohesion probably hurt her too......We have 3 practices now before our next game which should benefit us before going to a tough tournament in Sardis, where we might get to play Seaquam again, which I would like.
