You have too much time on your hands.

I suppose the Illuminati and FreeMasons have something to do with this as well?

I have heard about it, my buddy read a big report on the Fraser Institues Ideas in Uni and said most of it is rubbish in the real world.

Plus there is no benefit to Canada, so I am not for it, plus the bansk make way too much money on commissions of currency transactions...they would never stand for it.

Keep your head in the sand all you want. I'm sure your buddy is a reliable source. 3 Bilion in currency transaction Vs. More control to supposed banks in setting intrest rates across North America...

I wonder if big banks would invest 3 billion to have total control? My bet is that they already have.

If we had a common currency our economy would be in the toilet.

All Politicking aside, do you want your currency tied to a war and militaristic state?

The fact is the Yanks spend more money on war and defense than probable half the world'c countries GDP per year.

Their people and the gap between the upper middle class to the poverty stricken is vast and insurmountable.

Their economy, ideas of how currency is to be controlled etc makes this a terrible idea. The majority will rules in this sort of thing, the Euro succeeds because of like minded and similar countries buying in. Sure there are going to be weaker nations in the EU that struggle from time to time, but how different is the Mexican, US, and Canadian economy and state of affairs? three different worlds that share a geographic commonality is all.

Kinda what JBN said, will never happen. Why would our government give up the right to our own monetary policy and let the US do it?

Listen, the only reason this is getting any run right now is because Vicente Fox (former Mexican presindente) is trying to sell books.

Bush vehemently denies any such dealings and disucssions and has been quoted, talking Fox News reporters as saying things like "Anyone claiming we are working towards a North American Union is a conspiracy theorist"

Fox went on Larry King on CNN a while back and mentioned (or spilled the beans depending on who you believe- Bush the most hated man on earth, or Fox, the man that plundered the Mexican peoples for 7 years, and probably became the worlds best, and visible, profiteer) that Cretien, Bush, and Fox all discussed and agreed on a sort of "NAFTA Plus". King then lead the questioning line towards basically implying that Fox was talking about a European Union style for North America, a single currency, a common preipheral border, and blurred political lines, and Fox said something to the effect that Yes, that was the plan, not initially, that it would takes years to get there.

The British managed to not get annexed during the formation of the EU. They still have the Pound, I believe Canada is strong enough to hold and stay to a similar position.

The Yanks view the Mexicans as parasitic (rightly or wrongly, that isn't the topic of the day) and they view us as Socialists (which I guess is mostly true)
As a rule, popular opinion below the 49th wavers from Flavour of the Day to Flavour of the day. Is it Bush, or Clinton?! The American peoples, while needing desperately to control their new serfs (The Mexicans) and plunder the Natural Resources of Canada would never accept sharing citizenry with what they view as two Socialist States.

Someone/SomeNation is going to lose their identity, ideals, and community, and I honestly believe, while Globalization is an inevitability, Our People would vigorously oppose any such transaction.
Harper, while running our country at the peak of it's economic state since Trudeau ruined Canada, has somewhat allied and aligned with Bush and his theocrats and thieves, but I view this as positive, he (Harper) has maintained some levels of Candiana while being a well behaved neighbor.

I sincerely hope this doesn't happen in my life, and for the sake of my children and their children it never happens in theirs.

The Yanks still hold as common thought amongst the ignorant, that we(Canada) are a second socialist nation. Harper budgeted to run a 9.2 Billion Dollar Surplus, it came out at 14 bill :D . He now plans to use just shy of 5 bil for debt pay off and 2 billion for tax relief.
Meanwhile the Americans have spent near to extinction. 44,400 Billion Dollars (44 Trillion Dollars muhahaha) of debt
They are near complete Bankruptcy. The Qatar and Asian Market are selling off their American investment much to the shagrin and disdain of the Fed, devaluing the currency more.
If the Yanks get their hands on our resources (Tar Sands, Forests, Northern Passes, Mining Sector) expect the worst.

I hope for Canada's sake you are right JBN. I, for one, agree with every point you made, except the point about Fox news reporting truth... but that is another issue.

I'm not sure our leaders can stand up to the US pressure to get on board, and I have seen nothing in the past 4 years that points to Canada remaining a sovreign(sp) nation. We have tied ourselves to a sinking ship for the past few decades and it may be too late to sever the ropes before we go down with them. Global corperations control our resources, infrastucture, and money. Sometimes what's best for bankers, is not what is best for Canadians.

I never said Fox reported truth...I am fairly right of center, and even their Neocon garbage makes me somewhat nauseus.
I simply stated they reported. ;)
