VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE #1

2005-08-09

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The deadline for registering players is AUGUST 31, 2005 . Please follow these instructions:

1) Please check the “Suspended Players’ List” carefully before you sign any player. If any of your players are on this list, it is your responsibility to inform us. The list also appears on our website under the heading “Discipline”.

2) You were given twenty (20) player registration forms per team. The player registration fees will be paid at the time of registration. The cost of each player registration is $30 per player. Premier Division and Division 1 players are to use an ‘A’ form; Division 2 and Under 21 players must use a ‘B’ form; Masters’ Division players must use an ‘M’ form. If you need more forms, or ID cards, the office will be open on Saturday, August 13 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Please make sure that your players are signed no later than August 31, 2005 . We will start processing registrations forms on September 1. We cannot guarantee that registrations will be processed if the August 31 deadline is not met. The season is slated to start on the weekend of September 9/10/11, 2005 . You must supply us with a copy of a new player’s driver’s licence (or other picture ID) along with his completed ID card and recent passport-style picture. Please place the registration forms, ID cards (new and old), and a cheque ($30 times the number of players registered) in the same envelope and put it through the letter slot at our office. We will not register a player if his form and VMSL ID card have not been filled out completely and properly, if you do not supply us with picture ID (for new players), or if the player’s picture is inadequate. You will be called when your ID cards are ready. PLEASE DO NOT SEND INDIVIDUAL PLAYERS TO THE OFFICE TO REGISTER DURING THE FIRST WEEK OF LEAGUE PLAY!!

3) The blue ID cards are to be used only by CAT teams, while the green ones are for non-CAT teams. The pink ones are for Under 21 teams. The age cut-off for the Under 21 Division is 1985. Anyone born in 1984 or earlier is not eligible to be registered on an Under 21 team. The orange cards are for CAT teams in the Masters’ Division, while the silver cards are for single-entity Masters’ teams. The age cut-off for the Masters’ Division is 1970. However, each Masters’ Division team is allowed to register 3 underage players (born in 1971 to 1974). Anyone else born in 1971 or later is not eligible to be registered in the Masters’ Division.

I didn't know where to ask this so this seems as good a spot as any, regarding youth permits. Is there a maximum of youth permit players per game? How long before a game do they have to be signed? And if we can fax it into the league or do they have to be submitted in person?

Permits Youth

Unlimited players, permits, usage.

Player must accept
his coach must accept
league president must accept
his league president must accept

this can all be done by fax

start with the youth player's coach first, get the neccessary permit form from BC soccer, go from there.

Could someone enlighten me on how Master's players are allowed to move between the asters team and thier affiliated team?

Is there a limit in either direction?
I know masters are only allowed to sign 3 underaged players.
Could a masters player play for a cat team in the vmsl?

VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE #2

2005/09/05

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the exception of the Masters’ divisions, our clubs are reminded that only 5 substitutions are allowed in the VMSL. The substitution slips enclosed in your package—as well as the team rosters—are to be used. Teams using more than 5 substitutes are using ineligible players and are subject to the loss of points and heavy fines. The opposition and/or the referee cannot agree to allow more than 5 substitutes!!

Discipline hearings are held every Thursday at 7 p.m.—starting on September 15, 2005—at the league office. Players that have been ejected are invited to appear on the Thursday immediately following the ejection. If the ejected player fails to appear, his case will be dealt with in absentia.

When a player has accumulated 3 cautions, the team manager or coach will be notified and the player’s ID card must be brought to the office immediately. The player must sit out the next game. We will contact the manager and/or coach via e-mail early in the week. This means that we are always one week behind. PLEASE DO NOT SIT A PLAYER WITHOUT HAVING RECEIVED OUR NOTIFICATION!!! We will follow the same procedure when a player has accumulated 5 cautions. A player that has accumulated 6 cautions during the season will be asked to attend a discipline hearing.

A player playing in the CAT system must sit out his suspension with the team with which he is registered. HE IS NOT ALLOWED TO PLAY FOR ANY OTHER TEAM UNTIL HE HAS SERVED HIS SUSPENSION WITH HIS REGISTERED TEAM.

Players without valid VMSL identification cards are ineligible to play in any VMSL game. The only exceptions are:
1) Youth players playing on permit; these players must have a signed BCSA permit form and a valid BCSA youth ID card.
2) Players with a letter from the VMSL giving them permission to play without an ID card.

In league games, the home team is responsible for paying the officials’ fees. All VMSL referees will receive $50 per game. In the Premier Division, assistant referees will be paid $25 each. Please remember to pay the officials prior to the commencement of the second half of play.

Please remember that 2 overage players are allowed on the team’s roster in Under 21 league matches. These players must be from the club’s CAT system

Referees have to check rosters, ID cards, field preparation, and other important matters well before kick-off time. If the field is not lined properly (burned lines are not sufficient), if the nets are not affixed properly, if the uniforms are inadequate, if the corner flags are inadequate or missing, if the rosters and ID cards are not ready when the referee asks for them, the team will be fined. Please remember that it is the responsibility of the home team to supply a match ball and to change jerseys in case of a colour conflict.

Game postponements will be posted on our website (vmslsoccer.com) each Friday afternoon. Look for “THIS WEEK’S SCHEDULE” for regular updates.

Just doing my job.

Vinnie,

1) no limit that I know of.

2) yes, a Masters player can play for a CAT team in the VMSL—even U-21 as they are allowed overage players. Going the other way you, if you are signed with a VMSL (open division) CAT team, you must be at least 35 to play Masters: you must be signed with the CAT Masters team if you are one of the three underage (31-34 year-old) players.

Of course for a few teams like ours I don't think we have anyone under 40 so the whole issue is moot.

Hope this has been helpful, Peter
