Punjab Hurricanes take on Meraloma on Friday. On paper you would suggest a comfortable one for Lomas but, given they have little to play for and may continue with the absences that dogged them this past weekend, Hurricanes could be primed for a good old fashioned desperation win.

Considering Hurricanes recently won away to Meraloma, I wouldn't be surprised to see them do the league double over the orangemen.

Well the edges of the relegation battle are begining to get filled in. Bombastic's win over a Rino's team in the afterglow of clinching a league title with little to play for cemented America FC as second bottom in the 2B relegation race. Who they play in the sudden death showdown from 2A remains ever changing.

Burnaby's win in their final game set the mark at 21 points. This is also the maximum points that Richmond Olympics can acheive, thus meaning 22 points would ensure survival, while 21 points brings in the pre-playoff, playoff scenarios.

That final game for Richmond goes Friday night when they host Tanoa in yet another relegation 6-pointer. The other relegation team in action is Twin Arrows as they take on promotion favourites Campo on Saturday.

Twin Arrow 1 - Campo Atletico 3.
or Campo continues to defy the impossible.

Twin Arrows presented Campo with a very challenging game and was on the verge saving itself from relegation. However, Campo kept its composure was able to change the outcome of the game with 3 superb goals in the last 20 minutes of play. Twin Arrows has some very skilled and smart players. It was not an easy game.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On a rainy and grey afternoon two team came together to decide their fates for the future season. Twin Arrows was in a desperate need of getting points to avoid relegation, and Campo needed three points to have any hope of promotion to the next level.

Twin Arrows played a very intelligent game. They recognized the superiority of Campo, so they compressed and defended well in their own half. Campo kept possession of the ball and created some good chances, but the Arrow's goalkeeper saved them well without much agony. Campo was close to open the score when a long range shot hit the post, and the rebound barely missed the net.

However, the soccer Gods had a test in mind for our players. On a counterattack, the Arrow's left winger crossed the ball perfectly to the penalty spot. One of our defenders lost sight of the ball temporarily and when he saw it approaching it was too late. The ball hit his head and went straight into the top right corner. It was an own goal, but this is not unfair. Twin Arrows is defending well and created a legitimate goal scoring opportunity.

This is only the second time in 21 league games that Campo is behind the the opponents. The Twin Arrows team is motivated and starts to defend in a even more precise manner. It is becoming more difficult to penetrate the ball into danger areas. The half time ends.

It seems that Twin Arrows is going to go away with the win because they are fighting very hard and some counterattacks are becoming very dangerous as we have many players in the attacking zone. It can easy become a 2 - 0 at any moment. But Campo players battle hard, and keep up the pace.
The Twin Arrows start to tire. This plays into Campos advantage. They can barely keep up with the switches of play and holes and gaps start to appear on the midfield. There are 20 minutes to the end and it seems that the Twin Arrows will walk away with the win, but three superb finishes turn the tide around.

The first goal was a nice combination that started on the midfield and ended up with a shot just outside of the penalty box. The keeper deflected the ball, but it hit the crossbar and then into the net.

The second goal was a fantastic finish from our midfielder. Our centre back sent a long ball into the opposite penalty box and our midfielder made an incredible run. He jumped very high and on the run. He barely headed the ball and fell on his back, but he made enough contact to pass the ball just above the keeper. A really superb goal.

The third goal was another long range shot that seemed a replica of the first goal. This time on the ground.

Campo players go to face another tough opponent on Wednesday and hence continues to defy the predictions and expectations of the TTP pundits. Will they be able to reach what most people in this board thought of unthinkable and impossible? (A Campo Atletico team fighting for promotion?)

For one last time this season I just want to emphasize that everyone here has had you as favourites for promotion for some time now...

Yes at the begining of the year Campo was not in the discussion, based on the previous campaign's performance. Tought to blame them- Campo were absolute shite last year- but it has been clear since probably about December that you would be in the hunt this season and you have be the outright favourite since NorVan slipped up. I mean for f*ck's sake you're the only team who's fate is in its own hands.

They might not like it, but no one is denying it.

had a chuckle at "Campo continues to defy the impossible"... by beating the team currently bottom of the table!
ehem.... did not Twin Arrows beat GN?
Twin Arrows in a good day can beat or tie any team in division 2. Some of their players are very good in terms of quality and intelligence. Yesterday, Twin Arrows could have beaten GN, Greencaps or Campo. My respect to them as a team.

This sometimes seems like a never ending journey. Campo is on the road to be tested again tonight in a difficult and gruelling match with the Punjab Hurricanes. The Punjabs are still in the relegation zone, but they are not to be underestimated. They have defeated Meraloma, Greencaps, Norvan Vikings, and tied twice with GN. Will Campo players we able to continue with the impossible journey? A tie for the Punjabs will give them the magical 22 points, otherwise, they might face a relegation play-off. Wish us well in this difficult task.tumblr_mn62u3Khsr1rly6z2o1_500.gif
