This upcoming weekends games will be the last before the break. There are no real "on paper" battle royals featuring top ranked teams with the exception being Romaina vs Yaletown. With the forecast looking suspect it is doubtful many games will be played.

Only a few teams had the "shock to the system" first game of the new year. In last weekends games, JB's(needed more than 10 guys) vs City and Unicorns vs WV and Cobras vs Firefighters were the games that caused the larger shuffles in the table. The upcoming weekend has several interesting matches(Sign vs Polonia, Devils vs Romania, Bombastic vs PCov, Alemania vs Primo, Belmont vs Richmond and Yaletown vs Norvan) it is doubtful that may games willl get played.

Two teams that had a huge 5place ranking swing after this weekends games were, Bombastic who climbed the standings with a shelacking of Aryana and Yaletown who slid out of the top 10 from the previous 6th place, with there defeat to City FC Rangers. The Rangers had they not been docked 3pts by the league could have been placed in 10th were it not for the 3pt penalty they recieved earlier in the year.
For the upcoming week, a warmer and sunny forecast should allow for some more matches to be played. Given the fact that the league will be cutting down the cup entrants, there is lots to play for.
In 2A: Bombastic vs Signmaster has implications and on paper would appear to be a huge defensive battle given the G/A numbers these teams have achieved this year. PCOV and Kosova play weaker teams but will need to collect all 3 pts if they want to make it to the cup.
In 2B: Feature matches are Alemania Richmond, Belmont and Unicorns. Douglas Park needs to get by the Nomads and Primo is playing a team that they should beat handily.
IN 2C: The Rangers could pull themselves into 4th place with a win against the Devil. Yaletown's misstep against City FChas put their seasons post reg season play hopes put on the brink. They will have to play a strong game to defeat the CMen. Romaina vs Sandzak could be an interesting game and Norvan needs all 3pts against Westside Knights.

On the heels of a weekend of ties and what could be considered upsets , this past weekend was like an allstar break as there were several blowout victories. City FC's emphatic slap of Sandzak send them up 4 spots and into the top 10 for the first time this season. Sandzak fell and equal number of places.
For this upcoming week there are several key matchups.
Signmaster/Polonia play their first of 2 with promotion implications clear and present. Kosova will be watching Bombastic/PCOV as the fight for 4 spot is very tight.
The Unicorns need a win vs Alemania who have 3 games in hand. DP will be facing a West Van side that is more Hyde than Jekel at this point in time but are capable of taking pts.
The Green Devils will be watching the Yaletown/Romania result very closely but they will need to be prepared for the veteran Knights who love to play the spoiler.

Point 2: Adding CAT teams would reduce the validity of these statistic based rankings which are challenged all ready as their is no common play. CAT play introduces a couple of big anomalies that can't be "smoothed out" over 18-20 games of data. EG. More chance of incosistent results because of changing rosters. A different numbe of games that would change some of the logic and force the use of averages of numbers that do not average nicely.

Point 2 : If the cat div wants this formula then hey just ask the big bonefish for the formula and maybe by the end of the season he will be a) done explaining it to you b) you understand the formula and could apply it to your own division c) finally figured out your true starting 11 and hopefully cup tie them for the playoff run or d) take a moment to recognize a fellow div 2 memeber of mine and give him some props to bring a great idea to a bunch of div 2 players who are in it for the game , a few laughs , a good time and a good pint. sorry a bit of longwinded option d .

A tough weekend for the GreenDevils as their loss puts them 4pts back of a Romainian side that has a game in hand.
Bombastic put their cup hopes in jeopardy with a tie as PCOV have a game in hand. And Polonia's huge win almost assures them of promotion.
Alemania's win over the Unicorns gets withing striking range for the coveted 4th spot but a tough game awaits them in their next match.
This week features some key matchups with Cup implications. 2C has the City Rangers playing C-Men and Yaletown playing Norvan and they the first one who blinks(City or Yaletown) will find themselves "left right out".
2B which has Alemaina and the Unicorns in a dogfight for 4th, will see Alemania in tough vs Primo. Unicorns will face a troublesome Cleos.
In 2A, a loss by Kosova could make things very interesting with a 3 team battle, as both PCOV and Bombastic are facing weaker opponents.
Weather doesn't look good so lets hope for the best.

Hopefully they go with a 16 team cup instead of the dreaded 8 team version. It looks they plan on playing a bunch of the season out and then getting into cup play afterwards to make the qualifying more even in terms of games played.
Hoping we get both our squads in the cup with a chance. Although if the B cup ourney is local the qualifiers will be disappointed. I know i would be.

Our team is psyched up to make it again for the repeat Gold Performance(off the field that is). If a FV team hosts it, it will be very disappointing;Perhaps to the point where we will just go to Vernon/Kelowna anyways....BlazeArmy said:

The JB's are higher but another element is games remaining. Green Devils have more games to play. You also have teams like Alemania, Kosova and PCOV who have respectable Loss stats but are behind in games played. They will more than likely climb the table as they catch up in games.

Quite a bit of movement in the rankings with this past weekend's results. Several blowouts were a factor, DP by 14, and Richmond by 6. The Knights move into the top half of the table with their 2nd win in a row. and the Socceroos move to their highest spot of the season by notching their first win.
Cup play decisions are still riding in 2A and 2B. PCOV and Kosova are tied in the standings but with Kosova holding a game in hand and, Alemania is 1 point back of the Unicorns but holds 3 games in hand.
Promotion for all divisions is pretty much wrapped up with Romania needing just 1 win in its last 5 games to claim 2C and Polonia needing a win and a tie to clinch in their last 3.
Douglas Park/Cleo's FC and Westside FC Knights/FC Romania look to be the most interesting of the weekends matches.

Nice to see the Knights climb above the muck in the B.F. poll, if only temporarily. Having half of the starting lineup missing from the upcoming Romanian tilt could see them slide back. Perhaps a fresh batch of apple crisp and a small dose of the Goo Boy mojo from last week might help. How bout it 5th Back?

Sounded like you did a good job on the rope-a-dope style of play with the Green Devils, and we saw it first hand a couple of weeks back, so who's to say?
