Does a bear shite in the woods?
Almost a whole month off between games meant a lot of rust had to be shaken off, and it wasn't. Goo Boys took better advantage of it than we did, and we let them out of our mudpit with a 3-0 win, courtesy of some opportunistic finishing on their part and absolutely none on ours. Not happy about that, so several arses, some water bottles and a tree stump got kicked after that one.
After repairing Coach Howie's toes, we made up for it by bitch-slapping the Astro Boys 3-0 (at least according to the Most Excellent site; I only remember 2 going in, and one because Big Marley was flat on his back by the time his shot hit the net). Better effort against opponents who really (like us) aren't that good...
Last one before Chrimbo: 2-1 vs. the Caribbean Allstars. Nice touch of class to have Jim Lowe's name on their jerseys, and also to see Joe Alexis again; lookin' good for the young fella he is. All 3 goals scored in the 1st half; theirs first on a defensive brain fart by some normally solid centre backs, and then 2 identical pretty lead passes to spring The Other Stephen Burns down the middle for ours. Slightly less than epic pissup after as the Old Train boys were moping around next door, so we took pity on the Watcher and his beset lot and sold them some brews too.

Yes, quiet in here. Mostly because we haven't played for over another month now, unless you count our weekly purse-swinging matches against Conductor and his Romaniacs at training...
Apparently nobody else has anything to say, either.
Spurz 3-1 Pained Forest. As mentioned previously in the thread where all those players who are much better than we are hang out, no Franks or Xausa for Rainforest anymore. Apparently, very few players any more, as they seemed to have trouble getting a full side out, and only getting their 11th guy about 10 minutes in. 3-0 for us on a) Burnsie scaring the shite out of their keeper who dropped the ball at the top of the box when he saw the oncoming train, b) Al's high quality free kick from left to right top corner, and c) Ayham finishing off a nice string of about 15 consecutive passes with a header top corner. Van der Saar was respectable in goal with only one brain fart allowing a gift goal to them when he felt sorry for their lonely striker at the top of our box and gave him the ball.
Rintoul is a tool. Thankfully most of the rest of his mates had a bit of class.
