Brutal!
from the beeb:
AZ goal: It's a rubbish night in the Champions League for British clubs, that's a fact. Graziano Pelle gets his head on to a ball into the Arsenal box and there is David Mendes Da Silva to thump a sizzling volley into the roof of the Gunners net.

Wow, all in all a very weird day in the CL

Barca lose to Russian Minnows
Rangers lose (and then some) to Romanian Upstarts
Arsenal draws with AZ scoing REALLY late
Lyon pot two late ones to win at Anfield 2-1 with Gerrard getting hurt
Sevilla qualifies for the next round already! Wow.
Somehow Debrecen score 3 on Fiorentina and still lose by one!
Dynamo Kiev and Sheva draw in Milan against Inter 2-2...

just to rub salt in wounds of Liverpool supporters today (Misery loves company and all that) This is the first time since 1987 Liverpool have lost 4 on the trot and have United this weekend without Torres and Gerrard (Perhaps)

yikes.

funny stuff from the texters on the beeb....

They are basically saying it is a blessing in disguise for Liverpool as the 5th loss might see the end of benitez and his puzzling management tactics (Taking off Benayoun for Voronin!? Wtf!?)

Yes it is. Easily.......and it won't change unless Rangers and Celtic git tae and play elsewhere. Hate to say it, but it would help those self serving wankers and be good for Scottish football as a whole.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

MILANNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a match, both goalies looked awful and both cancelled each other out with their ineptitude. Yes Real were missing some serious firepower in the form of Higuain and Ronaldo but 3 points in the bank nonetheless!

In other matches no surprises unless you consider an undisciplined Bayen side earning 2 (TWO!!) red cards and losing to underrated French champs Girondins de Bordeaux.

Another Scotland team fails in Europe......another ****ing 1 - 0 loss at home.......Parkhead is no longer feared..........Rapid Vienna 1 - 1, Dynamo Moscow 0 - 1, a massively depleted Hamburg team 0 - 1........Motherwell 0 - 0........FFS, it is depressing.

Why is it that most pundits over there are stating that the Old Firm will be out of the SPL before too long? The best and biggest clubs in Scotland cannot afford to compete because of the small minded-ness of the BOD of the SPL, the other sides, and so on (Sky/Setanta issues, etc)

Look for the Old Firm to get into the FA's pyramid or another new "Atlantic" league with other teams with a similar plight (Portugal, Holland, Belgium, etc) inside the next 10-20 years (Sooner than later before the clubs die terrible deaths)

How cool would it be to see a league with?:

AZ Alkmaar- Eredivisie
Feyenoord -Eredivisie
PSV-Eredivisie
Ajax- Eredivisie
Porto - Portuguese Liga
Sporting - Portuguese Liga
Benfica- Portuguese Liga
Rangers -SPL
Celtic -SPL
Club Brugges - Belgium
Anderlecht- Belgium
Standard Liege- Belgium
BSC Young Boys- Swiss League
FC Zurich- Swiss League
Grasshopper- Swiss League
Slavia Prague- Czech
Sparta Prague-Czech
FC Copenhagen-Denmark
Rosenborg-Norway
IFK Gotenburg-Sweden

Norway, Sweden, and Denmark play different seasons I believe.......so that wouldn't work and the other problem.......money? Travelling all over Europe would certainly impact the money scenario for teams.

Either way, Celtic is rubbish at the moment and despite the league standings, I would say are MARGINALLY ahead of the Huns.......imho

Perhaps, both are in just terrible situations though...

This is certainly not a case of the "the rest of the SPL coming up in quality" it is a slip of money, class, and quality from two Massive clubs that are continually outvoted on contentious issues by minnows in their leagues that need the OF more than the OF need them.

It's not like drastic changes are happening elsewhere in Euroipe in leagues with similar issues as far as big clubs vs small clubs..

Portugal, Holland, Belgium, etc... Their teams are performing as they have been for a long time...

MANCHESTER UNITED 3 CSKA MOSCOW 3

wow!! are we ever lucky to have come out of this one with a point.
our defense was poor today
their 2nd goal was gift wrapped for them with macheda and fabio not communicating at all and allowing the cska moscow player to head it home :(

i am not sure where fergie's head was at with this starting line up but he woke up in the 2nd half and brought out some big guns who made it happen

next game is HUGE vs. chelsea
my prediction is 2-1 for the red devils

GLORY! GLORY!

FFS, Scotland embarrassed again and that was a massive piss taking (albeit I only watched 45 minutes of it) today.......granted I only watched 40 minutes of the goal but NO shots on target....and had the piss taking out of them despite needing a win. Well in, Walter. You should take over the Scotland. They could use your attacking abilities. FFS

I'm sure our last CL match will be different though.

Double

Maybe if Dundee United win the title this year it might change.
Seems like Craig Levein's the only manager with a set of nuts in Scotland anyway.

FFS is right...

  :(
