NK Hrvat played Akal FC tonight on a beautiful grass pitch in Surrey and came away with a convincing 4-1 win. Akal said not to judge them by the result as they were missing some players. That being said the score could have been more lopsided as NK left a few out there. Akal started well and were communicating alot and knocked the ball around nicely for about 25 minutes only to see a half decent strike from a fair distance suprisingly trickle through what was apparently not their starting goalies legs. NK added another and were cruising along mid way through the second half when Akal found the back of the net to cut the margin in half. NK immediately responded and then added one more to round out the scoring. On to Polonia next week and another look at what appears to be a fast young exciting NK squad.

not hoping for spectators, just seemed pointless to start a new thread only to then come back to this one and update the score here...is it okay to post up upcoming games or was some kind of code violated? we'll post the score to keep the spirit of the thread alive and dezza happy

NK should have had four more as they missed a sitter and wired three over the crossbar from in tight trying to take the leather off the ball. With some better shooting Polonia might have grabbed one but as it was they didn't really test the NK keeper. So far it looks as though NK would have been fortunate to have been drawn in Div 1A and we are hoping that the goals we have been leaving out there in exhibition materialize come regular season so they don't come back to bite us in 1B. The uber dangerous Slyrad did find the back of the net tonight and lets hope he liked the feeling as he could really break out in his new career phase at striker. If Kenji and some others find their game soon it will make an already potent NK lineup hard to match.

slyrad as a striker... interesting coaching decision watcher. It's like you took a page out of Holger Osieck's 2002 Gold Cup strategy when he put Kevin McKenna up front, who proceeded to bag 3 goals.

NK played well and deserved to win the match, there were some Polonia chances that should have been put away , Polonia missing at least 4 starters(didnt play at all) and were trying their new players out all game , its pretty hard to take these exibition games as indication of how teams will do in the season when players are being tried out in different positions all over the park. Good luck in 1B. NK should compete in their new division with some good players.

Temple 2-1 Kwantlen University
Kwantlen scored first off of some poor defending. Temple bagged their two in the 2nd half. Some new faces out there for the Temple squad and it looks like its going to take a few games to get used to one another. Kwantlen looked pretty brutal, would peg them as being a good div 2 team, all runners with not much awareness. Temple were missing a couple of key starters including their leading goal scorer from last season. Temple finished the game with 9 guys and Kwantlen with 10, with Temple playing a man down for 25 mins.

Cliff Avenue 3 Estrella de Chile 2 - okay game, both teams missing some players...game had a few rough patches, but both teams battled hard throghout.
