Italy lost 0-1 to the Alpine Croats, Slovenia, at home. Looks like I was right about the I-ties...

Croatia C drew 1-1 to Wales B and despite creating numerous chances coould only put one past the Welsh keeper. Not a good show from the younsters but considering it's practically a brand new team it was alright. Especially with results Wales have been getting recently.

flaccid......

England 1 Portugal 1 at Villa Park. MOTM Alan Smith with Bowyer and Woodgate looking the part too. Emile Heskey should be humanely put down for the good of the nation. As should Ashley Cole based on yesterday's (non) performance. England goalkeeping still a problematic thing with Calamity James looking about as secure as Dazza in a shampoo advert. Sven should think about securing some Viagra from Buckfast as England still can't keep it up for 90 minutes.......

James

Fasty,

Never been a Calamity James fan....and can't believe how he is so highly rated.

Not sure who is a better option though. Paul Robinson I guess...in time.

I know Seaman Blew his load at WC 2002, but is he OUT

He still looks like the choice for keeping right now. None of the young English keepers seem to be stepping up to bat to carry the load.

Let Seaman carry the Load for the Damn English.

England set for Croatia friendly

England are set to play Croatia in a friendly next season, the Football Association have confirmed.

Sven-Goran Eriksson's side are already due to face Australia at Upton Park in February as part of their preparations for the recommencement of their Euro 2004 qualification games.

The Croatia game is likely to be staged some time in August, ahead of qualifying games against Macedonia and Liechtenstein the following month.

'We plan to play a friendly against Croatia next season,' Paul Barber, the FA's director of marketing and communications told www.thefa.com.

'Where the match is to be played has yet to be decided but it will be another excellent test for Sven and the team in the context of our Euro 2004 qualification campaign.'

Should be a good warm up for the Croats...

It could be tough for Croatia to score. As long as England can keep them from getting any shots, crosses, free kicks or corner kicks on Seaman then they should be able to get the shutout. Seaman only has one weakness that I can see. His hands. Oh yes, his anticipation as well. Oh, and his deteriorating athletic ability. And his clearances. But his experience make up for all those shortcomings, really. Nice ponytail, though. I hear his friends down at the Pumpjack really like it.

Road trip.

A new thread may need to made for this, but I've just heard via a Scottish guy on our team, Turner Stadium (i.e. Seahawk's stadium) in Seattle will be hosting a Man Utd v Celtic match July 22, 2003.

Can anyone confirm this?

Croatia easily handled the Swedes 2-1. At times toying with them and generally taking the the piss. Rapaic is magic! The 'new' Croatia team is still unbeaten in 2003. Sweden's goal scorer was Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He could of played for Croatia but made a mistake he will have to live with for the rest of his life.

I saw the highlights of the Scotland/Austria game... Tsk, tsk.

Sensi do you see any of the rehashed internationals that you named???? Trap is leaving out Vieri, Totti, Del Piero, Nesta, Inzaghi and all those others you named and bringing this squad to Finland to play the next qualifier for Euro 2004.

Also England beat Serbia 2-1.

England to face Croatia at Ipswich
Wed Jun 18, 6:34 AM ET

LONDON, June 18 (Reuters) - England are to play Croatia on August 20 in a friendly international at Ipswich Town's Portman Road ground.

It will be the first time the first division club, whose ground has a capacity of 30,250, has hosted a senior England international match.

England and Croatia have only played once before -- in 1996 when they drew 0-0 at Wembley in a friendly. The game will be used by both teams as a warm-up for their subsequent Euro 2004 qualifiers.

England visit Macedonia on September 6 and host Liechtenstein at Old Trafford, Manchester on September 10. Croatia travel to Andorra on September 6 before visiting Belgium four days later.

The English Football Association is rotating England home fixtures around the country while Wembley stadium is redeveloped.
