Does anyone have an idea as to when the players report to training camp? Just wondering how close we are getting to the begining?

Jozef Stumpel to Penguins.
Good lord, are they trying to go from the cellar to cup winner in one year?

as I am sure most of you read in the paper today Anson Carter to the Nucks. Could be a good pickup if he can find his form from a few years ago in which he had over 60 points. It would also be nice if his plus minus is a little better then last years -16 or whatever it was.

Selanne back with the Ducks!
He might help with point production

Burke sure looking to change things in Anaheim, and off to a good start.

Wow.

Same day that the Sens avoid arbitration by inking Hossa to a 3-year deal?

Welcome to the new era!

Also welcome to the newest Canuck, Josh Green :D

This is huge for Ottawa, playoff grit coming your way. Interesting to note that both players have significant guilt baggage.

Dude,

Are you comparing Hossa's inadvertent high stick on Berard to Heatly's car accident?.....to state the obvious, one victim is back playing hockey and the other is dead

Sandman

PS: Back on topic.......That is a huge transaction

Sandman,

You're so very sensitive these days. Yes, I am, but thanks, really, for pointing out the obvious.

How much are you guys paying JJ and Ollie, anyhow? I need a raise.

~Millar on Dude's account.

I think Ottawa could be sporting the top line in the league now:

Heatley / Havlat / Alfredsson

New Jersey defenceman Scott Stevens retires
WebPosted Tue, 06 Sep 2005 15:52:10 EDT
CBC Sports
After playing more NHL games in his 22 seasons than any other defenceman, Scott Stevens of the New Jersey Devils is hanging up his skates. The 41-year-old Stevens -- a 13-time all-star -- announced his retirement Tuesday. He said he wanted to spend more time with his family.

Stevens has had a history of concussion problems in recent years, but said his health if fine now.

Devils GM Lou Lamoriello said: "He's been an integral part of all the success we've had. He's been a leader on and off the ice as a hockey player and a person." Lamoriello added that Stevens will stay with the organization in some capacity.

Stevens, an unrestricted free agent, missed the final 44 games of the most recent NHL season, 2003-04, after sustaining a head injury against Pittsburgh on Jan. 7, 2004.

The Devils have won three Stanley Cups with Stevens as their defensive anchor. His retirement, and the departure of Scott Niedermayer to Anaheim as a free agent, creates a large void in the team's defence.

"Obviously, it's a shock right now to hear," teammate Scott Gomez said. "You knew that day would come. We all thought Scotty would be back."

Devils netminder Martin Brodeur said the team is prepared for Stevens' absence, having learned how to play without him for much of the last NHL season. "We got used to not having him around," said Brodeur. "We really have a sense of what it's going to be like without Scott Stevens. At the same time we're going to have to learn about life without Scott Niedermayer, too. It's two tough blows to take..."
Next stop for Steve: Hall of Fame.
