That was a great post Canucks. Yes, communication is absolutely key.

You'll always run into a brick wall - either from the community or the high school coach at some point. But if you don't even communicate....

We battled really well today and were a little unlucky to not win the game but we were happy with the result based on the numbers we had out. We are in tough as anticipated since we have lost our goalie and our best player....second best player missed yesterday's game because she had a 'tryout' with the Whitecaps last night and tomorrow and Thursday. Bring two grade 8s and 6 grade 9s over to Panorama Ridge to play the defending champions. :) Should be fun. 5-3-2 and play for the draw. :)

Be a bit more aggressive and don't park the bus. PR is very beatable if you play well.

The game went exactly how we expected or hoped. They had 12 girls who worked really hard and stayed positive despite the score. We had 13 who worked well and had the necessary skill to win.

We were up 5 within 25 minutes then put it into cruise control. Could have been a lot more if we pushed it the entire game, but they also could have snuck one with a bit of luck and better finish.

We are on a good run. Just hope we can carry that over into Seaquam and lock up a FV spot before a tough trip to visit the Captain and SD.

A fantastic effort by the girls today and we scored the winner one minute into added time. Right before kick-off we lost our 'new' goalie during warm-up as she tore a ligament in her thumb. Starting centre-back into goal and start one of the grade 8s we had to call up to give us a couple of subs. We were the better team for most of the first half despite everything. They had a huge chance to go up 1 - 0 but our defender blocked a shot with the goalie caught out and they shot the rebound wide......very lucky. Other than that we contained them well and could have scored earlier but waited until the 81st minute. This gets us into the Valleys, which is a huge deal at this point with all that has happened in the last 3 weeks in terms of losing players, left, right, and centre. With a bit of luck we could possibly win on Monday which would mean nothing worse than a second place finish in the league which would at least guarantee one home game. Tamanawis will be a tough game setting up the last game against a very good Elgin Park team. I'm very proud of how the girls responded to the challenges this week. A lot of grade 8s and 9s have learned how to compete for each other.....and that is massive.

Good result Captain. We like it here at Elgin. If we both win Monday that makes 1st place on the line on Wednesday. Exciting stuff considering all the problems both schools have had with losing players for numerous reasons.

It's also conceivable to think that PR could actually miss Valleys if Tammy and Delta can stay consistent. Never thought I'd be saying that.

Well, Tamanawis obviously has some dangerous threats.....and I heard their Whitecaps players were going to play against us.......which would piss me right off. :D But all you can do is play what is put in front of you. Would love to get a victory on Monday because then you know you're guaranteed at least 2nd place and a first round home game in the Valleys.

Another good outing with another clean sheet. Impressed with the effort but our finishing needs to improve if we want to do damage in Valleys and potentially Provincials.

Pretty happy though with how the season has gone considering our only loss was when we had a numbers problem with only 9 girls against ND.

Looking forward to a showdown with the Captains team with 1st place on the line.

You're in pretty good shape, T4life.

SD 1 Tamanawis 1

A result that I guess we are satisfied with considering we played the game with 5 grade 8s and 5 grade 9s. Unfortunately the post weekend injury bug hit today and once again another shifted lineup. Should be the same crew on Wednesday so we will be in tough. I'm just hoping we have three players ready for the Valleys or it could be a quick run. Girls battled hard again but the quality was really lacking today even more than usual.

That result definitely makes Wednesday more interesting as positions could really change depending on our game with you, as well as the results of PR, Tammy and Delta.

Lots to play for on Wednesday!

Yes, it certainly makes things interesting. :) A win for you and it's first place for you. A draw or win for us and it's first place for us. A loss for us and we can end up being 3rd.......Lots of interesting match-ups for all 4 spots. Good luck to everyone involved. To be honest, if someone told me at the start of the season that we would have one game to determine whether we could finish in first or second, I would have gladly taken that especially knowing some of the quality that many of the teams in our league can produce on any given day. We have been very fortunate to be completely honest at times but we will take it.

SD 0 Elgin Park 1 - Elgin is a good team and deserved to win the game. We held them for just about 70 minutes then they capitalized on their first real chance since early in the first half when an errant cross clipped the cross bar. Overall, we did a good job of giving Elgin very little but we didn't create anything ourselves. Unfortunately, our lack of depth was evident again as we had to play the majority of our players, who aren't capable of it, for the 80 minutes. Elgin will do well in the Valleys and I'd be surprised if they didn't make Provincials..........us on the other hand. In the last 4 league games, we have scored a total of 3 goals and that is not going to get it done. We lack in some key areas due to different reasons and it shows against better teams like Elgin. Congratulations on winning the league, T4life, and getting a good home draw for the first couple of rounds at least. We will likely be on the road for our first game for the first time in 12 years......which will make it that much more difficult to get to that elusive 12th consecutive Provincial tournament.

That summary was spot on. However id argue that a draw probably was a fair result. Your girls played their hearts out and made it tough on us. But as you said, never created many chances. When we finally got one we buried it. On any other day that game probably is a 0-0 draw. Or you score on your always dangerous set pieces.

We were happy to escape with the win and league title. Now only four wins from Provincials. Hope we can keep the winning streak going.

Actually.....you're only TWO wins from Provincials. Top 6 make it this year, T4life. If you win your first two games you're in. If you lose one of the first two, you need to win your next two to get in.......if you lose first two....season over. We should try and make sure we don't meet each other in the second round.......just a thought.

Knowing there are six spots is huge. A good first week and you make the show. Week two just becomes icing on the cake.

I'll be at the meeting tomorrow and hopefully we can work it out so we don't have to meet til at least the semis or final (assuming we both play well).

And thanks for the compliment on the goal. It was pretty nice!

Cheers and see tomorrow!

They played us really tough. We went ahead midway through the 1st and had chances to bury it late in the half and early in the second but couldn't. They scored midway through he second and started getting more into the game. Fortunately we took the lead of a scrambled corner with 10 to go then iced it with 5 to go.

We weren't pretty today, but we got the job done. Our goalie was great! And we even managed to get all 19 girls on the field (even if they weren't our strongest).

Now on to South Delta. Winner to the semis and straight though to provincials. Big game!

Girls battled VERY hard today. We were down 1 - 0 after 10 minutes and were rewarded with a penalty to make it 1 - 1 at the half. The second half we took control of the game only to have them score with 20 minutes to go. Both of their goals were quality finishes but we managed to bounce back and tie it up with 12 to go off a scramble in front of goal and we scored the winner with about 8 to go. The ref added 5 minutes on which was mind boggling but we survived. We not have to extremely difficult task of knocking off the number 4 seed, Elgin Park, who beat us last week in league play. I have a feeling there might be a Friday game in our future but who knows? You need some luck at this point. Here is the draw from today's games and future games.

So I just found out today that the Coastal HPL coaches have told their girls that they have to now decide and choose between School or Club soccer. As a result, we may lose up to 5 girls for the remainder of our season.

I understand that coaches don't want their girls overplayed and or injured, but come on. How can making them quit on a team be teaching them good sportsmanship, team work and ethics. Just brutal to put a girl in that kind of situation. Unfair to say the least.

As someone who coaches at the school level, and formerly at club level I just don't get it. Absolutely gutted.

Guess this increases your chances a bit for tmrw Captain. Maybe no Friday game for you after all.
