So the game is going as planned. Whistle Blower, are you guys planning on fielding a full team?
We were planning on using the open weekend to heal some injuries, and most likely still will

Predictions for this weekend's games:

Poco 2, Peace Arch 1.
PAFC are a tough team to beat. They defend very, very well. We will be lucky if we can pull this one out.

Mission 3, LUFC AllBlacks 0.
Mission is just too strong for the up-start AllBlacks.

Delta United 3, South Delta 2. (PK)
Flip a coin. Both teams are very strong on any given day.

ND Alumni 3, LUFC Athletic 1.
North Delta are too deep for the Lords of Langley.

Reasonable predictions Monkey. I would agree with all of them except the scoreline in the first game and I think South Delta will edge Delta United out.

The Ballsacks could upset Mission - bit of a long shot but they work very hard. Lords have no chance against North Delta - they move forward to well and Lords are slow at the back, middle and forward positions.

Perhaps a little closer than the score would indicate.
Good hard working first goal, brilliant free kick to make it 2-0.
Keeper made a couple nice save to keep it close, and a generous yellow to PAU to keep the sides even.
PAU pressed but couldn't get one and then the 3rd goal put it away.
Good game, we were looking forward to the match.

Next year will be nice when you get 2 games vs every team.

Who is next?

There are some games where the result is just, some where you get lucky and some where you wonder how you lost. For us, this game fell into the third category.

Delta United 3 - South Delta 1

Delta United came out strong at the start of the game and dominated the first 15 minutes or so. They got theirfirst goal on a nice bit of forechecking. They break up a pass from our left half to our left back who was making an over lapping run. Their forward takes it to the right corner, nutmegs our left half, two of our defenders move to him but he put a nice cross on the head of their right half who is now completely unmarked.
And then we settle down and dominate the rest of the half. Get a nice goal from Halsey who terrorized their back line for most of the night. Also hit the crossbar, just miss high, force a bunch of clutch saves. 1-1 at the half.

Start of the second half and play is a bit more even, but probably still slightly in our favor. About 25 minutes in, the TSN turning point. Hudson breaks down the left side gets in close and slides it across for Halsey to tap in 2-1 South Delta. But wait, an offside call on Halsey, that we feel was flat out a poor call. But nothing you can do, play on. A couple of minutes later, Delta United comes in fromt he right, their player gets off a shot right at our keeper, and somehow it sneaks under him. 2-1 Delta United.
A couple of minutes later their forward scores a cracker of goal from the left side, and the game is pretty much over at that point. Last 15 minutes we go to a 3-4-3 and they swing 5 into their back line. We have a couple of opportunities to score but can't finish. Delta United moves on.

All in all a good first season for us. As a brand new team we have a good bunch of guys and felt we came together as team pretty well. I know we are all looking forward to next fall already to hopefully make a better showing than this year.

Ladnerlad,

I thought your team was very strong and probably the strongest we played all year. Tough luck on the loss but a good season for you guys. I think you'll be in the top 3 next year.

The game last night vs PAFC was a good battle. They held some possession but our defence shut them right down. I think they had 2 or 3 shots on net - one dangerous chance early. HOS wasn't there but their other goalie was just as good if not better. He made a couple of great reflex saves. That was the 11th shutout for our goalie who hasn't let a goal in since early Dec. Well done Trevor.

On to the semis which is going to be a battle.

To be the best you gotta beat the best!

One of our worst performances of the year but we did what we had to do....thought you guys were a bit one dimensional in the middle of the park. Sometimes as a team you have to change it up and that's what we did last night to get the result.

You guys are a strong group and look forward to playing next year again.

Guess the cops are cracking down everywhere. Gates had them out in full force as well on Friday

When do we find out the next round of games and who we play?
