Metro Soccer Results

I thought I would start this thread since Cartdriver is also coaching in the same league as the Captain. So far, our team has been nothing short of sensational. We have played 4 games and amassed(sp?) a total of 0 goals, while conceding 15. Actually, we have played 2 league games and lost 2 - 0 to the North Shore team, and 1 - 0 to a very average Port Moody team. The Captain received his first 'ejection'(it is a 'j' not an 'r') today after the match. I haven't seen a ref with no balls, especially when it comes to not calling blatant penalty shots, since yesterday when Club I played the Muckalomas.

Anyway, things will be getting more difficult since we play the second best team in the province. Fortunately, I will proabably be suspended and will not have to watch the cricket score. If anyone else is involved with girls or boys Metro soccer, please feel free to post some results/write-ups.......BTW, I coach the Richmond U-18 team and you can find us at the bottom of the standings on weekly basis on www.bcsoccercentral.com .

I'm betting your pre-game speech is beaming with positive energy.

"OK Ladies, let try not to get killed today. I'm sick of getting stuffed."

"Quit your crying Sue or I'll give you something to cry about"

"Lets try and keep it respectable this week shall we?"

Vice Lombardi eat your heart out.

You can only work with what you're dealt. I have been dealt fcuking nothing, much like recent trips to the casino. Parkhead will explain the frustration, I'm sure. He witnessed a few of the heavyweight contenders who make up a couple of spots on the team. If nothing else, we are the heaviest team in the league, despite only having 14 players registered. I could give Lombardi speeches every day for the next 5 months and we will still be winless. I may as well save them for later.....

Might as well, they may be needed in the spring when teams will actually have to get pumped to play South Delta. Better not let the secret out about the pre game motivational speeches though, wouldn't want others to catch on.

I guess for your metro team the line would be:

It's all about angles, all about obtuse angles.

Heavyweight contenders

I have to agree with the Captain here. I can't believe it myself. He has indeed been dealt a rather weak hand. His team is definetly playing shorthanded, Skill wise and in a couple cases as he says physically. A couple of players are indeed heavyweight contenders. Pound for pound they are up there. Feel sorry for the 4 maybe 5 girls that can actaully play, it's going to be a long year for them. The games I saw he had 12 players for the first one 11 for the second and 10 for the third. His goalie is from south delta but, I believe this sums it up. one of the games I saw he put his goalie from SD up front and she turned out to be his best player. Not a good sign.

Speeches or no speeches this will be a long year for the Captain!

Good luck

I thought the girl from the South Delta team was going over to yours?

Yes, she did, but the Berlin Wall eventually crumbled. The poor girl is shell-shocked after 20 minutes, as she often feels like the Allied forces did during Germany's Blitzkrieg . One can only take so much punishment in such a short time.......

We played another game tonight of the exhibition variety. Oddly enough, we didn't score again. We lost 1 - 0 AGAIN but I might have found a new striker. I have taken one of my solid defenders and moved her up front. She actually had two shots today, which pretty well doubles our teams' output for the year. If she keeps this up, we might be scoring a goal over the next month. Time will tell.

As for your comment, "It's all about obtuse angles", you're a little off. In some situations, "It's all about obese angles." This isn't a good thing......

I am predicting a 7 - 0 loss on the weekend, unless they decide they want to run the score up......:(

Obesity is in the eye of the beholder....

Dear Captain,

My name is Susy Smith and I play on your team (I am using Mr. Cartdriver's log-in name so my mommy doesn't get mad I am on this...she thinks it is a porn site!).

Anyways, I want to talk to you about your comments that I took straight to heart. We do have skill. Why, just remember that shooting drill we scored 3 goals on last night? I know our goalie was tying up her boots at the time, but putting 3 in that open net was a great feeling despite the fact we hit your car 7 times! As for our team's weight problems, I know Cindy, Kristy, and Gertrude all have problems when passing by a Mcdonalds (especially Gerty, boy can she pack away the nuggets!), but please don't give up on us. We will work hard, don't be disheartened. Just wait until the team pictures. We'll use lots of Clearasil the week before and you'll be so proud that you'll want a wallet size to hang next to the fuzzy dice!

But I gotta go now as my dad is taking me to my Total Soccer class at Sportstown. I am enrolled in "instep passing for 9 year olds"...I am getting soooo good.

See you at practice. Are you going to show up this time?

Results/predictions....

Damn little Susy taking up "results" space here!

Good news for the Captain...his team is not last in the standings! Based on GF/GA, he is in 7th out of 10. We have more G/A than Richmond, so I don't have pity for him yet.

Vancouver looks good so far with 10 G/F and only 1 against.

Matchup of the coming weekend: Upstart North Shore (2-0) going over to Nanaimo against probably the best team in the league (2-0).

Predictions:
CVI 3, North Shore 1 (CVI is CD's top pick for the league title)
Abbotsford 4, Port Moody 2 (Abby are too good for 0 and 3!)
Vancouver 5, Richmond 0 (Richmond can't score, Vancouver can)
Burnaby 4, Eagleridge 0 (Bby will bounce back from last week)
Semiahmoo 2, Surdel 1 (Surdel always plays Semi tough)

Damn Susy.....

That Susy has always been a thorn in my side....:(

Anyway, here are my predictions....

CVI 4, North Shore 0
Abbotsford 3, Port Moody 0
Vancouver 7, Richmond 0
Burnaby 3 Eagleridge 1
Semiahmoo 4, Surdel 1

I agree with your predictions, CartDriver, but Semi will lump Surdel, as they get ready for the Nationals.....

Record still in tact......

Vancouver 5 Richmond 0

As a spectator(I was told I had to be 50 yards from the field for an incident last week), we actually played really well the first 35 minutes, until ironically, a fcuking awful penalty was called against us. They scored an offside goal(from what I was told) 5 minutes later and a 3rd before half, 1 minute after this. Then of course, we ran out of steam. Cartdriver, how did you guys do today? I wasn't as impressed with Vancouver, as I was with Semiamhoo. Things will get easier next week, as we play the Nanaimo team. At least we covered the 7 goal spread I had set.....

Captain

BTW, CVI beat North Vancouver 2 - 0. Good call on your prediction of our lumping, CD! :)

close on the scorelines....

CS and CD were close on the predictions!

We beat Eagleridge 2-0 in a hard fought game (always a rivalry as many of the girls go to school together). They seemed better than last year despite losing their best player to us. We hit 2 crossbars and gave their keeper a few gimmes into her belly...so we should've had a few more....

Semi and Surdel tied 2-2, which was to be expected...Surdel always plays them tough and Semi can never put this tem away.

Good news for the Captain....there are 4 teams with worse GA!! His girls just need to SCORE now;)

Early predictions for next Sunday:

Abby 2 Surdel 2 (two teams with low GF, high GA, and tough players equals TIE)
CVI 7 Richmond 0 (Sorry CS, CVI is CD's top pick for the league)
Semi 3 North Shore 1 (Semi will be up after a tie)
Van 4 Eagleridge 1 (ER works hard but that's not 'nuff in this one)
BBY 4 PMoody 0 (another in-district rivalry with PM having highest GA in league while BBY is starting to gel)

That's it for now......

Abby 1 Surdel 2(I don't know much about the teams but if you get a tie against the BC Champions, that is a good thing....)
CVI 4 Richmond 1 (Major break through for Richmond)
Semi 5 North Shore 1 (Semi will expose a very weak NS defense)
Van 6 Eagleridge 0 (Van will hit stride against ER)
BBY 4 PMoody 0 (I agree with your scoreline because PMoody is a weak team that even WE should have beat) Fcuking cnut, Ref.

Captain who should be able to coach again, if I show up to a hearing tomorrow......

Well, we didn't give up 9........

I will give up 9 if I have to but we are going to score at least one goal this weekend.

We played quite well today and things are definitely looking a little better. They moved the ball very well and moved off the ball just as well. Final score:

Nanaimo 3 Richmond
1

We made it 2 - 1 before surrendering a late goal off a free-kick which was two yards offside.

Congrats Richmond...

Well done on keeping the GA down and scoring on a tough opponent....Small step accomplished, or large one?;)

CS....do you have any "inside tips" on CVI as we go over there this Sunday??

We beat P Moody 3-1 in an UGLY game. Did I already say it was UGLY?? Well, it was. I think both teams were trying to check the air pressure on the ball as it was kicked high, far, and everywhere but to feet. Did I already say it was UGLY soccer?? I forgot they played the trap and so I think we got called on about 11 that were off and about 4 that weren't (2 we scored on that were called back). The ref then told an irate CD (following the Captain's lead!) that the young ref didn't know the offside rule so he would help him. Okay...at U18 metro, the ref is putting on a teaching clinic to the linespeople AFTER the calls are wrong:mad:

Any other scores?

CVI

Congrats on another win, Cartdriver. As for the CVI, they move off the ball very well. If you shut Number 10 and 9 down, you will have a decent chance. They play a 3-5-2 with number 9 almost playing like a striker. They always have a person out wide on the right to try and draw the defense out to them. She is an awful crosser of the ball, so I wouldn't worry too much about her. Number 4 is tricky, despite looking like a rat. She is left-footed and is rarely interested in using her right foot. Where have I seen that picture before? Anyway, their left full-back and right full-back are SHOC-KING. The sweeper is decent but is not blessed with a lot of pace. The keeper is solid.

On free-kicks, they do the same thing every time. They draw the defense out to about 25 yards, and look for a third man run off a flick to the same target. They have a couple of real bitches on the team, so don't be afraid to throw a few challenges into them. Number 3 was yellow carded for repeated infractions and she probably should have been sent off. They certainly are not oozing class. They only had 1 sub, so I don't know if they were missing players or not. Either way, it should be a tough game. If you can, attack the left-back as much as possible. That is where our goal came from. Good luck.....

I love this. The last place coach providing scouting reports on TTP. Absolutely brilliant. And good scouting reports at that.

As for the linesmen CD, I agree it is always absolutely ridiculous, as a referee, to have to teach linesmen what the rules are when there are stoppages in play. Offside simply isn't that tough a rule to get. You either are or you aren't. There will always be mistakes but sometimes you really have to wonder if the kids they get have ever played or watched a game ever.

Stats BC will be calling.....

Holy crap, Captain....that was one hell of a scouting report! I think the only thing you missed was which girls wear grannies and what colour the ref's shirt was? But thanks.:D

Who do you have this Sunday?
