Inter forfeiting will definitely be taken into consideration by staff in this week's rankings.

Wow.

Have all the teams qualified for the provincials at this point or are there still some spots to be decided?

Which teams are in?

Ok, on the eve before the Provincial Cup draw, the rankings are starting to crystallize. The Valley boys, having discovered Capri pants, are on board. The VMSL guys are their usual secular selves, the VISL people are anti-mainland, and the North Shore types are, well, unavailable for comment. But that is being addressed by an historically effective Gestalt therapy/Mad Dog combination.

But, enough of that really.

It is now it is time for this week's edition of:

Sir M's Excellent Power Rankings:

1. Columbus F.C. (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 1. WAB rank: ...). Columbus did not play on the weekend, and will play West Van for the VMSL Masters Premier League title at some point in time in a chance to avenge their only loss of the year. TBA. No hurry or anything.

2. S.F.C. Rangers (FVSL. Last week’s rank: 2. WAB rank:...). This side did not play on the weekend, and are holding their breath for a BCs draw similar to the one they benefited from in 2007, and are being very careful for what they wish for. Idle this weekend coming up.

3. West Van F.C. (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 4. WAB rank:...). This side won the playoff to win their side on Sunday, and now await the scheduling of the final against Columbus.

4. UVIC Alumni. (FISL. Last week's rank: not ranked. WAB rank:...). This team won the VISL league going away, and are tall, balding, and blonde. Even by Island standards.

5. Sapperton Rovers (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 3. WAB rank:...). No games for these guys until the BCs, as they, along with Cliff now, are the only teams not competing for VMSL hardware at this point. Should be well rested for the BCs, and, depending on their draw, could be a force in that competition.

6. Westside F.C. (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 6. WAB rank:...). Westside won by a forfeit against Inter, who clearly were not fanatics about playing on the weekend. Up against that same Inter side in the League Cup final on Sunday.

7. Cliff Ave. United (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 5. WAB rank:..). This side, unlike Inter, competed on the weekend, despite being short due to ethnicity and Roman Catholic obligations. Now they are doing penance after their loss. Awaiting the BCs draw, and absolution.

8. Vantreights (VISL. Last week's rank: not ranked: WAB rank:...). This team is named after the area of Vancouver immediately east of Hastings Bowl, staff report. Are tied for second in the VISL, and are facing UVIC in the Tony Grover Cup final coming up. One of the greatest hosts in BCs Masters football, according to staff member Skanky CDMTC Blonde at least.

9. Delta Metro United (FVSL. Last week's rank: 8. WAB rank:...). This team plays in the Cup Final in the Valley on the weekend. Should be tough in the BCs.

10. ICSF Inter (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 7. WAB rank:...). These guys are back in the BCs this year, and are in the VMSL Masters Cup Final. Staff are seriously concerned about their strategy to forfeit one week before a final.

11. VicWest. (VISL. Last week's rank: not ranked. WAB rank:...). This team, named after a country singer/ movie star (who reportedly does a fabulous duet with Island staff member Gordon Head) are tied with Vantreights, and are in the BCs. They are always tough in that competition, especially at home, where they are exceptionally good hosts.

12. Mission Blues (FVSL. Last week's rank: 9. WAB rank:...). These guys play in a do or die Cup final this weekend against DMU, and are at home. A win puts then in the BCs.

13. Aldergrove United (FVSL. Last week’s rank: 10. WAB rank: ...). This team has to wait to see who wins the League Cup title game, and if it goes right, then have to play PAU in a playoff to qualify for the BCs.

14. Peace Arch United (FVSL. Last week’s rank: 13. WAB rank:...). See immediately above.

15. Nanaimo F.C. (VISL. Last week's rank: not ranked. WAB rank:...). This side is the 4th spot qualifiers out of the Island, and most teams are hoping that this team draws an away game in the first round.

16. Coveside F.C. (NSCL. Last week's rank: 13. WAB rank:....). This team needs to wake up if they are going to get their first ever win in the BCs. Seriously.

17. Vikings (NSCL. Last week's rank: 14. WAB rank:...). See above, although if memory serves, they may have beaten Lobbans in the BCs a few years back.

18. Nordic F.C. (NSCL. Last week's rank: 15. WAB rank:...). This team, well, see above.

So, that is it for the final pre-BCs draw edition of these rankings. If you would like to discuss these rankings or any Provincial Cup related issues with staff, or Sir M, I encourage you to tune in, and call in tomorrow evening to the annual TTP webcast.

Back from the loops....FYI Sir M. we were NOT supposed to forfeit. Not sure what happened there. However, we really should have rescheduled due to most guys not being available. The league wouldn't allow it. I had heard also that Westside were in tough for the game as well. We shouldn't be punished for that. We'll be up for next weekend against Westside though. Should have our FULL lineup. To have us down at
11th is unacceptable. We'll see the rankings next week...

Some teams can't always win the B.C.'s Jags...They are just taking a hiatus from the provincials.
