Bombastic 2-3 Sandzak

This turned into a pretty good match to watch. After Sandzak started with 10 men and Bombastic blasted one in after five minutes, I was ready to go home, but then Sandzak's 11th showed up and immediately drew a (fair) penalty for the equalizer. Bombastic dominated the first half but weren't able to put it away, while Sandzak were deadly on the counter to go into halftime 3-1 up. The second half was end-to-end action as both sides seemed to shift into a 4-1-5 formation and almost completely foresake the midfield. Bombastic continued to have more chances, but their finishing (especially Crouchy) was absolutely shocking. They buried a brilliant shot from a ridiculous angle off a corner to pull one back 10 minutes from time, but there were many far better opportunities that went begging each way.
All in all, there wasn't much to separate the two, and Sandzak just made far better use of slightly fewer opportunities. That and their monster #10 completely dominated the game again; he is definitely one of the most effective players in Div. 2.

I never got an answer as to whether Erion was going to score all five goals in the thrashing we'll receive tomorrow...

C-men 1 SPH 3 (nice prediction, Dap- did you ask Georgie's Best for that one?)

Ok, here's the game summary you've all been waiting for. They had the majority of possession/attack, they run off the ball well and with speed. Game was scoreless for first 30 min. or so with some solid d and goaltending by us. First goal came off a flick header to a guy that just out ran our sweeper and he chipped it in on the half volley-nice goal. Down 1-0 at half, we were still in it but were having trouble creating offensively. Also we had lost our stopper (ankle), which didn't help. Second half they just kept coming and capitalized on a couple of giveaways to add 2 more. We managed to get a goal late. It was on a nice overlap run where two of our guys were offside and their whole sideline was yelling at the ref to call it when the pass went through. Our guy came from onside and got a breakaway and took no risks when he got in on the keeper. He deked around him and walked it right into the net ;) . Honestly, I thought it was a fun game-trying to track their speedy forwards was a challenge, especially on turf. They'll be a handful for any div. 2 defence. Hate losing though. We had too many giveaways and have some issues as far as style of play, tactics that need to be dealt with.

We must have dominated this game by atleast 70-30 in terms of possession, it was a good kick-around for us and we got to shake a bit of rust off. C-Men got one in the last 30 seconds. Everyone was yelling offside, but it didn't really matter as the game was already sealed. It wasn't a chippy game except for some chop downs that the C-Men did to us a few times when they got skinned by our attacking players. I believe they got 3 yellows, compared to our 0. Apart from that the game was pretty clean and to me it seemed that they improved a bit since last time we played them, but there's still a lot of room for improvement. Even though we didn't score 10, we got the 3 points and dominated the game.

Dunno about this... Cleo's, with one of the strongest defence in 2a and some new strikers should make short work of you guys.... AGAIN!

Um...wrong. It was easy. #14 is a nice player but sadly he is on his own.

True... I must eat my words now.

Belmont played a great game and their goalie was like spider man.

'B' Utd 0- RFC 4
We were lucky to get 11 for this one as guys were working/out of town/busy etc, but we did and pulled off the W. It was nice to dominate a team for once, albeit B Utd. Looks like we're starting to put things together with some positive results lately.
Looking forward to next week and avenging an earlier lopsided loss to 'charlie' and the Nomads. Man, that guy was lippy, but he'll get what's coming to him. As long as we get the numbers, we're gonna roll the Nogoods.

NK 5 - 1 Unicorns

Should have been 6 as a goal went off the inside back post but the ref thought it went off the front post and down; nevertheless, NK found some scoring touch around the net again.

2A Pred's

Belmont - Cleo's - Belmont back on track and a chance at redemption against the last team we lost to.
Aryana - Signmaster - Several goals to zero.
Firefighters - City FC - One goal game...will be close.
West Van - Burnaby - I'll pick Burnaby but they better be careful as WV can surprise...somehow.
Maplewood - Bosna - Tie. Won't be pretty.

5 for 5

Kosova 0-2 Yaletown

At least that was the scoreline when all hell broke loose with about 20 left to play. YFC started strong, and were beating down the door throughout the entire first half. Poor finishing kept us off the board until we finally buried one just before halftime. Going into the second half, Kosova threw everyone forward, but weren't really able to create any quality chances, and were leaving themselves open to counterattacks. Frustration began to set in, and then their striker (Erion?) kicked our sweeper and pushed him down when the ball was nowhere in sight. Immediate red card, and no complaints from anyone. About five minutes later, YFC finally managed to capitalize on a counterattack and went up 2-0. Their players immediately rushed the referee, appealing for a hand ball on the part of our center back at the start of the play. They had some justification since the ball did strike his arm, but the fact is that this occurred just outside our penalty area, and we still had to carry the ball up 80 yards to score. They also seem to have forgotten the two professional handballs by their strikers that went unpunished, and both of them resulted in dangerous chances.

In any case, nothing can justify what happened next. One of their players pushed the referee, and he gave him a red card, so then another player came running off the bench and grabbed the ref by the throat. After breaking it all up and getting the ref away from his attacker, he abandoned the game (rightly so) and was getting ready to go to his car when the throat-grabber from before ran a huge circle around the pitch and threw a haymaker at the 60 year-old ref. Fcuking ridiculous. It took fifteen people to escort the ref to his car and ensure he got out of there before some more of the Kosova supporters got to him. The police showed up about five minutes later, but by then there was no one in sight.

I feel bad for the Kosova captain and most of the other guys on the team who were trying to restrain the few lunatics, but I'm not sure what the league is going to hit the team with after that fiasco. The thing is, the last time we beat them in September they verbally assaulted the ref and one of them was given a five-match ban. He kept himself under control today, but this kind of thing is just ridiculous. It's Div. 2 soccer, for chrissakes, and nothing can justify assaulting a 60 year-old man who happens to miss a couple of calls. (btw, the ref was pretty good on the whole, he just missed about 2-3 calls for each side. He kept up with the play well, and the calls he missed would've been pretty hard to get without linesmen)

If a ref is assaulted no less than 3 times and the police have to get called in after several attempts at calming the situation down, two things must occur: (1) the team must be immediately removed from the league, and (2) every player must be suspended for at least one full season (obviously more, if they can find out who the perpetrators are -- hopefully one of the teammates will do the right thing and turn him/them in).

Brutal.

wow - plain and simple.

sph - played on friday night and sofaking basically summed it up correctly. i think we are seeing cracks in some teams due to the lack of games being played the past few weeks - nevertheless - every team is in the same boat.

as for the kosova game - oggy - well done!

however more importantly - there is NO justification on what the kosovo team did to the ref. this team is a bunch of loose cannon's - the league should come down hard on them - and a 5 game suspension for one player is NOT enough. we all get on the refs on a regular basis but these guys allow us all to play in these leagues - no matter what they do one side is not going to be happy. but going after a 60 year old ref - come on now - that is gutless.

2 losses for kosovo and two major incidents involving the ref - these guys ought to grow the fcuk up - take a look in the mirror rather than blame everyone else. just brutal.

Fcuking disgraceful indeed. Why didn't the Kosovo players stop the lunatic from running off the bench? Surely enough of them knew it was wrong what he was doing? Anyway, NO ref deserves that kind of treatment, let alone a 60 year-old......

The other players had already restrained him and quite a few minutes had passed, so I guess they must have thought he had chilled out, but then out of the blue he bolted free of them and cut the ref off as he was going to his car. The ref was good at ducking punches for his age, though. Is that part of the referee training course here?

The ref was pretty good of course he was for you.Listen dummy i am the captian of Kosovo and feel terrible for what happened because it's very ridiculous but the ref did mess it up before all hell broke loose. In the second half when was still 1-0 and there was a scramble in front of your goal i shot with your goalie being out and your defender keept it out with his hand. The ref did see that and he did not award a PK and automatic red card because it was intentional to keep the ball out of the net.And when the second goal was scored the guy carried the ball with his hand and every 1 was shocked with the way he was calling the game.Maybe we are not liked by the ref's but not to that extent.I am very embarresed for what happened i have no words for it.No matter what kind of game the ref calls there no reason to do that.I have slim hopes to none that Kosovo will still play soccer.I feel bad for some of the guys in the team that just want to play soccer but in any case i can not stop people from outside doing insane stuff like that.I just don't know what to say anymore.....
