So is there a Imperial/Masters Cup Double header at Kinsmen with WestVan as the hosts with the mosts. I think I would take a Sea Bus for that one. When is the last Sea Bus home to the surrey from the shore on a sunday night?
West Van 2, Columbus 1. A bit like Friday night, I thought the WV side did not play very well, although had more of the play. We went up one and then gave one back on a screwup in the back. Hose was dangerous all day for Columbus and Frank played very well in the back.
SPADA, coming off a year long knee rehab, came in in OT for 8 mins, undressed the Columbus defender and set up Danny for his second of the game.
HOS.... with any luck the games might be played on a saurday which would leave you at least one full day to catch the sea bus home? I have heard the final will be played with the winner taking home a velvet blazer???? SIrM... I was sitting court side today did you see the columbus goal or were you too busy organizing your subs? West Van was lucky, they are a good team but lucky today with a depleted columbus line up. The final should be good but sapp as the favorite should win by one.....
Columbus definitely done in by numbers and injuries, needed a full squad at this time of the year... Hose could have used guys coming forward to help out later in the game -- maybe even a couple of 50+ for overtime... we could still chase down Spada! Throwing in fresh guys in the 100th+ minute though, is that even sporting?
First sighting of the Anti-Fan for awhile, good to see him out of the tree-fort. He appeared to be kind of enamoured with the big fellow up front for Columbus... "give it to the big guy" seemed to be his catch phrase for the day. Of course everyone on the field seemed to be a bit bigger, except for Spada...
Should be a good final, hope it is a bit warmer, I am definitely not big enough for this weather.
Despite rumours, North Shore hopes, tradition, etc, there will not be a cup final double this year at Kinsman. The Masters A Cup final will be at Point Grey AT at 1000 on March 29. The Imperial Cup final will be at Kinsman at 200 PM on the 29th.
Not that you boys care or anything, but the FVSL is having all the finals at one park over a full day, it is in Mission (100 years of the Pac Cup) were the Cup started. Why can't the VMSL get the same thing done, it only makes sense for the League. There is even a 7-a side tourney for teams that are out of the Cup.
7 A Side Tournament TBA - TBA Mission Sportsplex TBA
Playoff Premier/D1 TBA - SFC Rangers Div 1 Mission Sportsplex Sat 12.30pm
FINAL President's Port Moody Gunners - Athletic Club BC Mission Sportsplex Sat 12 Noon
FINAL MASTERS SFC Rangers - Delta Metro Utd Mission Sportsplex Sat 2pm
FINAL U21 Port Moody Gunners - Poco City Rovers Mission Sportsplex Sat 2.30pm
FINAL Pakenham Athletic Club BC - Chilliwack Rapids Mission Sportsplex Sat 4.30pm
Why not a 8 AM final at Bby Lake on Field #1. I hear the Chinese league isn't using that football field that morning.
I know we're old, but throw us a bone once in a while, VMSL. It would have been a better day all around to watch the Imperial right after the Masters. Even though no one would show up to the Master's final, at least it would have guaranteed a larger crowd and better atmosphere for the Imperial.
PCOV had limited players. They fought hard but ran out of gas at the start of the 2nd half. Arnie with the first 2 from close range. Geoff J ended on a spectacular move that the goalie bit on way too early. It left Geoff with the open net. I would have been proud of that goal.
Tommy made one great stop from long range to preserve the shutout.
HOS you are so right! and WAB and the boys ( no mater what the year) should not be prancing around in their tight whites pretending to play football. Although I am sure WAB is droolong over the thoughts of Sully and Arnie Beers in their tight whites..... maybe we can all join the FV league to avoid this debacle...... Ranger forever... Cheers! and coach........ piss off and start posting you #$%@
Just curious on everyone elses thoughts.... nothing to do with north van but should not the Premier and masters final be played back to back no matter where the location is chosen? I am sure the masters would like to have a few pints afterwords and enjoy the premier game???? Is this not good for the vmsl? The Frser Valley is full of fruit cakes ( HOS) and terrible soccer, but atleast they have their finals in order. No names mentioned but I love metro ford..... now get your act together...... CJ should we book you a room at the squamish nation cacsino?
They even have a back-up plan if there is snow in Mission, all the games are moved to Cloverdale athletic, now that is a top class league, does Azzi have a back-up plan. The FVSL is getting no love, but I have to tell ya, the three teams that come out of the league this year will do some damage, Delta works so hard, and are solid in the back, even with out big Jolly. Mission are tough to figure out, they have beat all the tough teams, but have had the odd stinker too. Then it is PAU White or Rangers.
Still can't believe the league can't get the finals back to back, it not even April 1st.
Sign me up for the Casino, is Eagles going to show us around?
It is ridiculous to have the Imperial, U21, and Master finals not only at different parks, but different days as well. U21 - this Sat, Imperial - next Sat, Master - next Sun. This is supposed to be the build up to the pinnacle of the league. I just wish a little more thought was put into organizing the games together - Even if it meant having one game at another field close by (ie Ambleside) if they feared over use of the field.
The FVSL has done well. Reminds me a bit of the 90s Okanagan Challenge of the PCSL. Great promotion, bad soccer.
