I helped Croatia organize the 'many moons ago' Croatia SC vs. White Eagles game @ Swangard and admission was $5. Security was inadequate. This was mostly because the private firm we hired (I think it was Genesis?) give themselves a limited mandate. (which we found out the hard way) As soon as the situation requires a little more than a 'presence' they call the RCMP- which is what happened last time. The RCMP then has the option of charging you for their services which really drives up costs. The RCMP charge you overtime pay for the officers at the scene at a minimum of 4hrs. AND they dont even let you pick who gets arrested. In my opinion $10 is a reasonable amount.

Normally random idiots. This will be a heated battle of pride in football more then anything else. Alot of cheering and singing. I honestly can't remember any fights in the last time these two clubs met. I was pleased to say that last Euro Cup when Croatia defeated Germany I went to the Casino with my Croatia jersey on and was congratulated in beating the Germany by alot of Serbs.

Amazing, the VMSL anticipating, and basically condoning the potential violence by asking for security to be at the game, rather than threatening to kick both teams out of the league for fan violence - no ifs, ands, or buts. Security for an event like this is a false sense of protection for those who want to beat there chests and push the envelope.

If anything, or the actual threat of anything happening is there, then I say this:
We are in a country where the violence overseas should not be transfered. Doesn't anyone else see the stupid mentality of it all? We actually need security for a beer league game because people hate each other based on their ethnic background. If the teams can't control their supporters, then they should not be in this league (go play in Europe - no wait, I forgot most of them are actually born in Canada) - the total stupidity of it all is incredible. Just all be fcuking CANADIANS and go watch soccer.

Well said, I truly agree that this anticipation almost excitement over potential violence is ridiculous and something I would expect from deliquent teenagers not supposed grown men and women. I look forward to the game and yes the rivalry is exciting but the rivalry on the field.

I think that having the security there is more precaution that anything else... the players on both teams have no problems with each other so we dont expect any fighting on the field or anything... But at the same time whenever you get a large crowd together in which people have been drinking you never know what to expect and what could happen.
