I must say that there has been more analysis this past week than at any time in recent rankings history. The reason is, it as difficult to distinguish the top four here as it is to get Sir M to stop waxing poetic with cheesey metaphors.

Anyway, although perhaps controversial in some people's opinion, the rankings are about to follow. Please bearcub in mind that the primary criteria are recent performance and strength of opposition for these rankings.

Enough introduction though, you can take to the bank this week's final four edition of :

Sir M's Excellent Power Rankings:

1. Columbus FC (VMSL. Last week's rank: 4). Columbus are on a roll. They host UVIC in the semifinal, and the last time that happened, staff report that they had an emphatic 3 or 4-1 win out at Adanac. This team is on form, having beaten PCOV of the VMSL, and then travelling over to the Island to defeat Vanthreights to get to the semifinal.

2. West Side (VMSL. Last week's rank: 5). Westside survived a bit of a scare at Roma in week one, but at the end, won away against the top North Shore side at their home park, it must be said, fairly easily and going away. They followed this up with a tidy 3-1 result over the vaunted Nanaimo side last week. They are visitors at West Van this coming weekend. Although that game is in South Surrey.

3. West Van FC (VMSL. Last week's rank: 3). WVFC defeated DMU out in Delta in the quarter final, and have dispatched two of the better FVSL teams in the last two games. They host Westside in an all VMSL semi-final this coming Saturday. Those two teams know eachother... better than most people can ever imagine.

4. UVic Alumni. (VISL. Last week's rank: 2). UVic is through to the semis after back to back home wins against NSCL sides. They are in for a bit more of a test in White Rock this Saturday.

Best of luck to all sides this coming weekend.

Sir M at his best with these rankings....

I should be noted that UVIC beat Columbus in the semi last year, on the Island and without Sarge in the line-up. This year, the I-ties get Sarge back and get to stay at home, even though it is a bit of a drive from North Burnaby.

Predictions for the weekend.

Columbus and WestVan.

Let's see:

Yesterday,

#1 Columbus defeated #4 UVIC 3-0.

#2 Westside defeated #3 WVFC in extra time 3-2.

Perhaps the previous rankings were fairly accurate and not as contrived as some people had asserted.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say this weeks ranking will stay the same with
Columbus being ranked #1 and Westside #2!:D

Congrats to both winners on the weekend! I know Roma doesn't feel so bad now losing to Westside, who are now in the finals.;)

Yes HOS, Burrzy and Mac both got sent off on purpose so the rankings would be accurate. Further, staff member Joe was the referee allocator.

It is very tought to discern between east and west this week. But Staff are going this way as to the rankings, and let this serve to be staff's prediction for the Provincial Cup final. So here we go now with this week's edition of:

Sir M's Excellent Power Rankings:

1. Westside FC (VMSL. Last week's rank: 2). Defeated former #3 West Van 3-2 in OT.

2. Columbus FC (VMSL. Last week's rank:1). Defeated former #4 UVIC 3-0.

Staff are predicting a 3-2 Westside win in the final.

Eagles is going out on a limb and saying Westside wins 2 - 0, with Marcus scoring both.

Or

Columbus 1 - 0 in Sarge scoring the winner after having a chat with Eagles before match!!

So, go VMSL!!
