ManUre v. Juve. That will be a fcukin' cracker tomorrow. There is no way that I'll be able to wait for the result before the 8PM TSN showing. By the way, how is the BC rink doing in the Tournament of Hearts?
With all the rumpus in the papers re: Kung-fu Fergie and on again, off again Keano, Old Trafford will be electric.
I watched the Barca/Inter match today. Barca is not that good... they came out relentlessly for the first 20 or so but after that it was mainly Inter... Barca cleared 2 off their line before the end of the half.
The keeper for Barca is very shaky.
Inter will definitely win the return leg at the San Siro or wherever the fcuk Inter plays
Man United 3-0 Juventus
Giggs (16) Man U, Giggs (42) Man U, Van Nistelrooy (64) Man U
Some interseting notes:
- Giggs doesn't start fueling speculation that he will be transfered to Inter Milan in summer. Subbed in for an injured Forlan in 8th minute.
- Giggs scores wonder goal in 42 minute. Not as classic as his FA Cup goal vs. Arsenal or the Celebrini goalbut close to a classic. Takes the ball from before center and runs it in.
- Van Nistelrooy also doesn't start... and scores.
- Roy Keane starts at centerback!!!!!!
- Juventus fans start chanting "Ole" as United stroke it around. Anyone up for a riot or a field invasion?
- United through to their 7th straight quarterfinal in Champions League.
- if Arsenal finish second in their group, United could face them in quarterfinals... if Arsenal get to that stage.
As the famous late-twentieth century New York based philosopher once said when questioned about the efficiency of an Italian Serie 'A' backline, 'Don't believe the hype.' Best defences in the world playing in that league? Okay. Say whatever it takes to help you sleep at night. Without Scholes, and with Giggs starting on the bench (albeit for only 8 minutes) and with Nistelrooy saved for a 40 minute stroll in the second half, United took the piss in a TTP-sponsored way. Bollocks to Vodaphone, last night was sponsored by Regs. Fair enough the wops hit the bar and flailed at piss-easy chances more than KNVB at a Grade 8 sock-hop but there was me believing Juventus had a wonderful side. They may be winning the Serie 'A' but who gives a fcuk about that league? If that's the best they've got then I reckon Sunderland would do well to fcuk off out the North-East and take up residence in pastaland.
So did the rest of the big Arse. I can't say that I'm too disappointed but for a team which can play some very attractive football, they were fcuking awful in the second half. I missed the first half but was unimpressed with their ability to go forward as a team. At one point with 5 minutes to go, they had possession of the ball in their own end and there was SEVEN players on their side of center. Henry is still magic though, and I think it is great that Ajax is going through because Celtic stuffed them last year.
