If this is the case then you will be more angry than Angryman by mid season....OH it is mid season.....a few more angry losses for you to come 5th

If things keep going as they have been I'll be the second coming of Angryman, and comments such as above are only pushing me that way...But seriously, we are improving so must stay positive. Thx for the "sensible" comments. Ya that guy up front is loudmouth. He played ok but your giant defender shut him down. That guy's solid but I was surprised that he didn't get a head on any of the corners that he came up for (he's a foot taller than everyone else on the pitch). Oh well, on to the Yalies (i think) next week and perhaps a different result.

1) The guy that pushed the referee. Gone for the season. You don't touch the ref. Yelling and so on is one thing but you don't touch a ref in an agressive manner.

2) The Choker and the guy who clocked the ref (same guy from what I'm reading); if he is a player..never plays agian in any organized league. If he is a fan........the team turns him in to police or identifies etc plus they are responsible for keeping him away from matches.

3) The team is docked 6pts in the league for the incident.

4) The team is on probation for the season.
I agree with your comments. The league will be dealing with it on Thursday and I guess we will have to wait and see what penalties are imposed.

As Oggy mentioned the majority of the Kosova players didn't get too involved but it is their supporters and subs who have a real problem with invading the pitch when there is a problem with bad calls etc. However, that said, the real two clear cut offenders that should be directly dealt with are both players.

The No. 3 ran in and intially pushed the ref (and was subsequently was sent off) and their No. 15 grabbed the ref by the throat and then later chased him down and beat him to the ground. The latter wasn't a case of sporting misconduct, it was assault, plain and simple. I will be suprised if the ref doesn't press charges.

No.

Only the player charged can attend the discipline hearing. He can't even be accompanied by his coach/manager, so I highly doubt random spectators are going to be granted entry.

Anyway, I believe incidents such as these where the referee is physically assaulted are usually deferred by the league to BCSA. So we may not actually see a resolution for these guys come Thursday.

BC soccer will suspend/kick out the players in question, as this will be a matter turned over to BC soccer.

The last guys that attacked a ref got five years.

However, although Kosova may be dealt with some heavy fines, I highly doubt they will be kicked out of the league. Ref's have been attacked in the past, and from the incidents that I have heard about, the teams still remained in the league.

Whether or not this is the correct decision is a matter of opinion.

3 or 4 years ago during a Shaheen, Lobbans game. Shaheen did almost the excact thing but it was 2 players in question. One of the players had his shirt off trying to get to the reff. with punches. He tried attacking him a couple of times when we thought it was settling down the guy came at him again. Ref had to be escorted to the car. The same discussion followed on TTP and how Shaheen should be tossed. They are still in the league.

5 or 6 years ago a Richmond team was tossed for attacking a reff. I never heard excactly what happended. Perhaps half the team attacked him.

If only a couple guys where involved here I doubt the team will get tossed. Probably heavy fines. I say $1000.00 for the team and get rid of the players involved. That should send a good message.

I would think we should definitely know about fines/suspensions by the end of this week since there are games scheduled for next weekend.

The big problem here is that kosova verbally threatened a ref last time as well - now they go out and actually assault him. I agree that not everyone was involved but as sofaking posted last night - it is the team's responsibility to ensure their team does not get out of hand.

On to the C-Men (is the loud-mouthed striker back yet? ;) )[/QUOTE]

Yes. He can be a dangerous player if you give him too much space. Make sure you have someone marking him tightly. They also have 1-2 good midfielders with decent skill. Like I said they were a different team from when we played them last.

How about that Nomads - Green Devils game? There are more than a few people who habituate this thread who are interested in a post-game analysis of that match.

My guess....Lots of long balls on a crappy pitch to "Charlie" who had a hattrick accompanied by a Red Card to a Green Devil.

AC Richmond was the team and it was during the 98-99 season. I seem to recall the ref getting mobbed as well as previous incidents being a factor.

the Devils 1-NoNads 4

Game update, Nomads always show up to play against us, as there is some history of bad blood between a few of the players. Score def not reflective of how the game went. Play was dominated by the Devils all game, we just couldnt find the net, hit the crossbar twice etc. Kudos to the H brothers and to their keeper who kept them in it, he made some quality saves.

Nomads had about 5 shots total all game. Along with 2 penalty shots!!!,(which they buried) Charlie is their only scoring option and both of their goals came against the play, no question Charlie is a good player, (but he's still a jackass with the amount trash talking and complaining he does)

Essentially, there were only two players and one supporter directly involved, and the guy who screamed at the ref after our first game kept quiet. As I mentioned, as a football team Kosova are hard but not dirty, and there was no problem between the teams yesterday. One thing I will speculate on though, is the difficulty that not only Kosova, but many "ethnic" teams like the aforementioned Shaheen seem to have, and that is that the team is closely tied to the community, making it somewhat difficult to control who comes to play and support the team. For example, teams like Yaletown, Bombastic, Belmont, etc. have players come to tryouts, and if they like the player's skill and attitude, they sign him up. If not, they don't. Simple.
With the "ethnic" teams, players who come out are in the community, and often someone's uncle, cousin, nephew, whatever, and the politics of the team are much more complicated. Hence, even if you know someone is a hothead, the fact that he is a member of the community and possibly related to other people on the team makes this much more of a problem, since you can't just tell him to fcuk off. I'm not trying to justify what I saw yesterday, but I do think that the different dynamic in these different types of teams is a contributing factor. However, I have no clue as to how this could be resolved.
That said, I'd just like to see the two players banned for however long (very likely) and the crazy supporter not come to any more matches (unlikely).

T.D.H,
Played the Nomads on that park a couple of weeks back and it can't be any better. We were caught by the Charlie factor on a couple of occasions and as they continually send L.B's to him all day, I couldn't see them changing that. Given the scoreline, he had to be there and, having played against both teams, that some type of card/penaty must have been at play. Been in a few games where the bounces just aren't there, Signmaster at our home pitch last year is a prime example.
...anyways....That was my logic and I am sorry but I keep all my numbers for the "Tax on the Stupid" to myself. :)

A few years back, maybe 5 or 6 years ago a team named Jolly was kicked out of the FVSL and never allowed back...Their case was one where they threatened to kill the ref and actually flashed a gun. The ref wasn't actually touched, but the threat warranted them being kicked out...I'm not sure what will happen here, but getting kicked out is a distinct possiblity for Kosovo...
